I live in CoMO and I can tell you a lot of fans did not want to abandon 100 years of tradition and move to the SEC. That decision was made because the people running the university who were not Missourians thought the SEC would be a cash cow and thought regional rivalries were old fashioned.
Tickets sold for basketball this year are up because of the hype surrounding the new coach and recruiting. Tickets sold for football are dismal and turnstile is even worse - around 35,000 turnstile for some SEC football games.
The fans are simply reflecting reality.
I live in St. Louis. I think one of the boosters pushing for the SEC was genius Stan Kroenke (sp?). Stan is the owner of the former St. Louis Rams, now L.A. Rams, and has done a marvelous job of mismanaging them over the years. Stan's main claim to fame is Walmart money... he married Sam Walton's daughter. I am pleased to hear that Missery is feeling the misery of their SEC move
