At the least, I would support Prohm putting McKay on the bench for awhile. Hopefully, today Burton earns a spot, and Hallice Cooke gets some positive minutes. If Burton is effective, we could start small in games and bring McKay off the bench. Let him earns his way back.

Mckay basically told Hines he's not sure why ISU is saying indefinite suspension, it's just one game. Mckay is probably in for a rude awakening when Prohm gets back.
My read on this is that it was a team decision to suspend him. It doesn't sound like the guys were too thrilled with his attitude and Prohm backed them by suspending him. JM thinks he can work his way back to the players hearts and get the suspension lifted. Jeremy's post said it was the players as much as the coach who was fed up with him.

I wouldn't be surprised if he gets the message and comes back a better team player. I will say that I'd be surprised if he doesn't. He will realize that the best chance he has for his future is being part of this team and doing all that he can to help. If he does that, the rest will take care of itself.

My guess is 1 game suspension, sits out the 2nd on the bench, and comes off the bench from the 3rd on, until he regains the trust of the team/staff and gets a starting position back.

Normally I would agree with you. But in this case, I'm leary of hoping for a 'new McKay'. Sounds like the whining has been going on since Europe. He might come back and play for 'his team' , but it's hard to change the spots on a leopard.

It'll be interesting to see what the reaction on here is if we lose today. Jameel may be a head case, but he's helped us win games. There's a good chance that Prohm is sacrificing a win in order to make his point. I hope that everyone is prepared for that.

I think that is likely a given if McKay is to make it back onto the team. Burton has had issues with foul trouble so we will need McKay even as a non-starter.

Oh, I do not think people are ready for that. We already have idiots on this thread saying NIT.

I remember 7 months ago wondering how Prohm was gonna find minutes for 9-10 guys. D Williams, Greek. At time those two leaving didn't seem that big of deal. It's like everything that could gone wrong almost has.

After reading this depressing thread, I can't wait for today's game. Play intense D, hit the open 3s, and run the court. Cyclones who want to play as a team will win on the road today.

Or he is trying to make the team stronger for the stretch run by attempting to control a problem once and for all. Could we lose today, very easily, could we win with a galvanized team effort, could happen as well. This problem couldn't linger any longer, we are in a stretch run for the season and it is do or die time. Jameel if he responds well to this may look back on this for the rest of his life and call this his turning point.

So do you think he should just let McKay do whatever he wants? Let him dress and sit him, then another BDJ/UAB situation? Sounds like it was also the rest of the team according to others that were tired of the antics. This looks and sounds like a team decision, not just the coach's.

Do people really change overnite if they are not happy yet?

Do people ever really change? I am into my sixth decade and I have only seen it a handful of times. I seen people turn their lives around, mostly by getting drugs and alcohol out of their lives, but not many who changed who they are.

Hell, it would like asking me to not be sarcastic.

McKay's attitude has been obviously bad for a while. His ball handling is a liability, and his effort has been less than consistent. It's up to him to get back into the game at this point. Get off the social media kid. Most people should take that advice these days.

No, I think he should do what he thinks he should do. I'm talking strictly about the fan reaction on here if we lose.

Unfortunate his had to happen, but I definitely support Prohm on this. Refusing to practice is super weird though; was the reason that he claimed injury or just because?

If we have to take a loss for this so be it. At this point we're not playing for the Big 12 race; it's all about preparing for a run in the NCAA tournament.

This right here^^^^^. If this was November, you take a mulligan on such a problem. And....now that I think about it...maybe CSP has. Anyway, this is not November it is a month away from dance time. You don't need this festering now. If it was me......I would rid myself of this baggage.

Jameel wasn't that way last year and has always seemed like a very likable person. Even when he ******* in the media, often in the same interview he's saying something right.

I think this thing with Jameel is less about him as a person and probably more about something he's dealing with. That isn't excusing it.
