Woodbury and Gessel have caught more crap on Twitter in the last 3 years than all ISU players combined but I don't see them posting a bunch of negative stuff or refusing to practice.

Exactly. Again, the bunker dwellers around here can continue to defend guys like McKay, but Woodbury and Gessell have had to put up with much worse ---- their entire careers at Iowa, yet they don't whine or threaten to quit.

I see it as a CYA move. Like, "oh ----! Better suck up to coach and my bros now that it's clear they're sick of my ----."

Oh, and the first step toward being a great teammate is sucking it up and playing through adversity. Showing your teammates you have their back even when times are tough...ON THE COURT, not Twitterville.

As I stated it's a first step. Jameel will have to prove himself everyday to his teammates and coaches. It's a conscious CHOICE that he will have to wake up each day and make. Only time will tell, but I will not bash anyone when they are trying to do the right thing. Each day is a step, life is not a success only journey.

Would you rather he not show support for his team? I have never defended Jameel's actions. I have said that he has a choice here to make wrongs right. I'm encouraging him to make the right choices and start to prove that his past actions are in the past. Encouraging and coddling are two completely different things.

When you know better, you do better. I am hopeful that he will learn from the situation he placed himself in.

Fair enough..

What I would like to see is for him to FINALLY get off social media...I'd also like to see him take responsibility for his actions when he talks to the local media instead of saying 'I'm not sure why they're calling it an indefinite suspension. It's only one game. That seems a bit harsh'...this is a guy that just doesn't get it, and he's proven that over, and over, and over, and over this year.

HOPEFULLY this suspension will get it through to him.

I'm surprised we're dealing with issues like this this year, thought we'd have enough leadership from guys like Niang to avoid it. It's pretty ridiculous that a team this talented has issues getting guys to buy in.

Thought the same. Did he hurt himself by tweeting "one game"? Wouldn't you want to keep that under wraps vs. potentially antagonizing the staff by undermining the message of "indefinite". It'll be interesting to see if it is just one game.

If the tweet didn't hurt him, then I bet him talking to Hines did. One thing I know is that ISU student athletes are not supposed to talk to media without getting it cleared by the AD first. So if JM was left home and suspended I am sure they didn't give him permission to speak with the media.

JM just needs to hold his house together 6-8 more weeks. His Mom and GF need to prop him up.

Thinking the same. I have a feeling by how "vocal" Kay is about what went down he hasn't learned a thing from the suspension regardless of what he tweets. This isn't over.

ok? does not posting on twitter give them basketball skills?

No but it shows that they are mature enough to realize that social media isn't a helpful thing for them. Whereas McKay IS STILL posting on Twitter while sitting at home for a suspension.

Clearly he doesn't get it.

After everything that's happened, naz injury, the comeback vs Iowa, beating out and Ku, now this jameel saga, the thing people just can't get past and won't shut up about is carter getting minutes. Lol.
This. Mind blowing.

JM spoke to Hines during his suspension? Where is this article? In the only Hines article I see regarding this, there a couple of JM comments, but those are from his post-KU meltdown. What am I missing?

Re: Not traveling to OSU??

In all honesty, I would take Woodbury's hustle, work ethic and "team first" attitude over ANY player we have. You wonder why a team with average talent like Iowa is a top 5 team? Guys like Woodbury.
There's no questioning Woodbury's work ethic, he's not afraid to get his fingers, I mean hands, dirty.

Mckay basically told Hines he's not sure why ISU is saying indefinite suspension, it's just one game. Mckay is probably in for a rude awakening when Prohm gets back.

ISU comes out and says he's suspended indefinitely, and then he basically undermined that statement by tweeting "1 game". If I'm Prohm, he's out at least 2 games.

I'm worried from the way he said that to Hines that he really has not learned his lesson and probably won't. Hope I am wrong however.

This, which makes me wonder if he really has gotten the point. I hope I'm wrong, but it seems like he's trying to shift the focus off of HIS mistakes. Usurping the chain of command is not the right approach.
