This is all about a choice. We all wake up each day and choose to be a contributor or a contaminator. The great news with all of this is that with one choice it can all turn around. There is still time to influence how this chapter ends into something Jameel can be proud of.

I understand this is just basketball, but I see this as something that can potentially shape Jameel's future. I hope for him that this is the moment that he chooses to contribute, be a teammate, honor his commitment and honestly grow into being a man. Usually the wrong choices in life are the easy choices. Be man enough to make the right choice, no matter how hard it is. You will NEVER regret doing the right thing.

Chemistry is huge and all it takes is one person to disrupt that chemistry. When you eliminate that elephant in the room that she has obviously been, it can be a huge breath of fresh air.
They have had their backs against the wall a few times this year but nothing like this.
I still have a hunch that these guys will do something special in March.
If Jameel comes back, it's on his teammates and Prohms terms and he'love being thin ice.

Can't help but think of this scene as McKay's next meeting with Coach. "Jameel McKay, your file says you've served a one game suspension. Do you feel you've been rehabilitated?"

Might as well happen now. There's a scenario where Burton impresses and gains trust, and Jameel comes back energized and a bit rested up.

There's a scenario were monkeys fly outta his butt too. I like yours better

This was suppose to be our Final Four year. And when you make it that far, it's anyones game. Now what?
Coach CSP has to get this team pulling in the same direction. :angry6wn:

Think I've heard Williams talk about the beauty of having Niang in the paint on CF radio. Now we get to see it as a full game. Give this a test. It works, and Mckay is coming off the bench the rest of the year.

That ship sailed when Fred broke up the band in June and we had to hire a new coach and couldn't add any more players.

Re: Not traveling to OSU??

Well there is FMLA. Then, when that runs out there is always 99 weeks of taxpayer funded unemployment. And during that time I am sure an injury will be found, like maybe like a knee in which the pursuit of disability will ensue. And after being denied for some time, there will eventually be an approval in which disability pay will be retroactive to the day of the first filing and denial. So all in all the future looks bright.

Unfortunately, this is the mindset for a lot of people.

When and why did things start to go wrong?

He paid his own way for a semester to come here, passing up other places who had scholarships. He was deservedly so, the Big 12 defensive player of the year last year. Seemed to put out max effort all the time.

I'm trying to think of a basketball player at ISU who did a U-turn like McKay his senior year, can't come up with one. Seems like things had already started to head downhill with the summer trip.

the team seems like a fraud to me They can talk to the media just fine, but they have proven time after time theyare mentally weak. Hope that changes soon

You know what seems like a fraud to me? You.

Nobody knows what's going on in McKay's head. It's not nearly as simple as "McKay's just not bringing it". While that's a problem for the team, that's not the problem with McKay - it's the result of whatever the real problem is.

Whatever McKay's personal problem is, it's affecting his play, which is affecting his team. When whatever your personal problem is prevents you from catching a pass or hitting a 2-foot layup, that problem makes you a liability to the team. While this team has a serious shortage in big bodies, until he gets his **** together, he's a detriment. We need last year's McKay to return as a result of this suspension, or this team will just have to survive without him.

My personal opinion but if you go back to the UAB game last year McKay seemed like he wanted to be "the man" and take the team on his shoulders and lead us. We all know how that turned out. At the beginning of the season, again, he tried to do too much and missed a lot of close to the basket shots. I think this all got in his head and then his knee started hurting. All in all, it is in his head, and his knee, now. It can't be easy either way. He seems like a very proud person and his inability to accomplish what he wants is weighing on him heavily. If Prohm can pull him back along with his teammates he can be a monster. If not we go small ball and hope one of the two freshman can stand a crash course in BXII basketball.

Monte is his roommate and SJ his girlfriend, both warriors for their team. I don't understand why that influence doesn't cause Jameel to have a better attitude and be a team player.

Prohm needs to start trusting his bench now. Cooke and Ashton should both have played more against WVU and Carter needs to see the floor. He's not a stiff. Put him out there for 3-4 minutes with Niang and see how he does.

in a perfect world we manage to beat OSU, McKay comes back a changed man, those 3 guys are contributing off the bench and become part of the rotation, and we go on a roll into March. UCONN had several losses before they won the title two years ago.

If we succeed without him, he'll say something like, 'see they are just fine without me,' like he did after he sat the second half of Illini game. His attitude has sucked since then, and the knee 'injury' seems to coincide with that moment. He's one of those guys that pulls up 'hammy' when they are getting beat in a 200 yard dash.
