The only thing I think was bad was how Ward turned out to be just a follower. That was sad and disappointing. Basically, if he shows up again it would just be for some other person's right hand man..... Maybe he'd work for Skye's father....

If you think this show is well written there is no hope for you. I have seen so much better in my time it makes me cringe to watch this. Joss Whedon was able to get more character out of a cheerleader fighting vampires. The writers could have done so much more here.

Lol, ok. This show was very well done imo. Everyone gave it a hard time in the beginning, but it was really just establishing pieces and putting them all in place, so when they wanted to make their strike (timed to coincide with CA2) they could. It actually worked brilliantly in my opinion.

And why exactly is it bad writing to take one of the stronger, more 'powerful' characters in the beginning (he was this 'only works alone killer' guy in the beginning) and turn that around and show us that no, he might be the weakest of the entire group. That adds another dimension to a character, that's not 'bad writing'

And your other assertions... "skye is annoying"... i've never found her annoying. "may is just a black widow clone"- so any woman that can kick *** is just a 'black widow clone'? Its not like theyve really fleshed out Black Widow yet (one of these days they'll get that movie out the door), and similarly 'token black guy', actually seems like a fun character... he's not just a token just because he's black... and everything ive seen says Fitz is expected to return in season 2.

I've long accepted that alarson is hopeless, but SHIELD became a very well-written show as it developed.
Characters developed, threads tied together, and it's been a fun ride.

This is easily my favorite TV show right now, and that stems from the writing.

There is a difference between bad writing and bad dialog. The story writing of the show I think has been great. The dialog, while not horrible, could have been better. Kind of like Star Wars. Great stories, dialog not the greatest.

Seriously, every review site bags on the writing. It has improved but I thought it took a step back last night to simply be a dudebro piece between Fury and Coulson. And like I said early credits on Season 2 did not credit the Fitz actor, and there was no reason to not have him with the rest of the group at their new HQ unless they do not expect him back. And the Ward replacment has been nothing but a little bit of muscle. I think they will simply use him like early-Ward, a stoic action hero type character.

And if you liked Ward at the beginning, calling him a strong character, I don't know what to say. Writing a character as capable is different from a strong character(ie more than one or two attriubutes). He was one of the weaker characters, with almost zero personality(heard him called Agent Handsome, which fit very well as he was just John Everyman). When he turned traitor they had a great opportunity, and in my mind it was squandered by how they used him in the last two episodes. They had a chance for a Brody like character from "Homeland", and settled for a lackey.

Ohhhhh - reviews from critics. Those are always accurate. Just like most of the critics that ripped on movie "The Life of Walter Mitty" were spot on. :jimlad:

As I really don't want to read the rest of this thread from the spoilers, and likely won't see any responses to this post, I would like to mention how disappointed I am that ABC refuses to re-air any episodes on TV at all. Mediacom doesn't have a deal setup to watch it online (outside a small window), and they already flagged me once for trying to find an alternate (read P2P) route to watch it. This sucks.

Lol, after suffering through Smallville and still suffering through supernatural, will never start another show on CW.

ABC says they're showing it on their website.

It's TV and they did a pretty credible job with "superhero" material.

I have been watching on Hulu, you have to wait a week after it airs if you dont have Hulu+ though.

I think there biggest issue was just starting the show in the fall. They had to have known going into the year that they would have this massive twist in April that they had to work around. Why not just wait until the mid-season mark in January to debut the show so you aren't treading water for your first 6 months?

I hope they clean up their story plotting a little bit for season 2 in the absence of any movies to work around, although Buffy tended to have seasons start slowly as well, so maybe that's just a Whedon family writing weakness. Looking at some articles about ABC's fall upfronts this week, it sounds like SHIELD is going to take an extended break at mid-season with "Agent Carter" about the early days of SHIELD in the 50's with Cap's old girlfriend airing in it's place for 13 weeks. If I was writing the show and that was the schedule, I think I'd just split the season into 2 completely different stories to keep the plots moving fast and cut down on case of the week filler episodes.

Whedon has done some talking with various sites. This is the blog I go to to get some current information and there was some Agents of Shield stuff. Confirmed that any Fitz involvement is still up in the air, and it looks like Ward will still be very prominent in the next season. That excites me as there will be alot of growth potential to that character, and the team, if they keep him aorund in some fashion.

I watched every episode of Smallville too and I promise you they are not even in the same time zone. Arrow is seriously awesome. Season 1 takes a while to get going but Season 2 just finished and it blew me away. Now they are starting a Flash spin off show in the same universe next fall.
