This would be true, if the Bears had a franchise QB.
They don't.
He indisputably has top 5 QB in the NFL tools.

Those offenses claimed Bernarnd Berrian and an aging Muhsin Muhammad as starting receivers, for crying out loud. The personnel they have in place now gives almost any QB a solid chance of producing (see: Josh McCown over the last month). Forte is one of the most underrated players in the league (he's one of the top backs), and the receiving trio of Jeffery, Marshall and Bennett is ridiculous. Grossman didn't have weapons like that at his disposal.
He's had 8 years to try and take those tools and make something of them. He's not done so, and to expect him to do it at this point (and pay him big money to wait and see) is foolish.

I don't blame Cutler I just don't want to pay him. Because he gets injured a lot and is mistake prone. These two posts just don't make sense to me.
The Bears have been bad on offense for a long time before this season due to lack of weapons. This year they have offensive weapons but their issue is on defense. But yet you seemingly place all of the blame on Cutler.
The Bears have not given him any offensive help until basically this year and then the defense ***** out. Cutler is not the problem.

I would bet a lot of money that the Bears betting their season on McCown ends in disaster.
Do Bears's fans really think that he is going to take them anywhere? Dear god do I hope that is what they do.

The Bears have suffered through Jim Miller and Rex Grossman. I think they're well aware of how much worse they could do than Cutler.
What you can't seem to wrap your head around, is that the opinion to let Cutler walk is NOT about blaming him for this season. Everybody is pretty aware that the defense sucking *** is why the season was disappointing. But not spending money on Cutler allows the Bears to dip into a solid defensive FA pool and shore it up.
If Cutler were Peyton Manning good, I'd say spend the big bucks to keep him. But he's not on that level and very likely never will be, so he's not worth that kind of money. They're better off not reaching.
As I Packer fan, I hope the Bears lock up Cutler with Romo type money. This would be true, if the Bears had a franchise QB.
They don't.
I wrap my mind around it fine. I think you undervalue the QB position in the NFL. The Bears traded 2 first round picks for this guy. It costs a hell of a lot more than 15-17 million in cap room to find another QB capable of running a team or that has the potential that Cutler has.
The price for that is almost always a top 3 pick in the NFL draft, a completely lost season. And even then it's no guarantee.
Sign me up sign me up sign me up. Jay Cutler has the physical tools to be a top 5 QB in the NFL. I know some other things he does are slightly lacking, but he would be a coup for a franchise with no answer at QB. He is far better than serviceable. The Bears will find that out if they let him go.
Signing a QB in FA like Cutler would be the biggest move since drafting Peterson. I don't care if he is careless sometimes he doesn't have to carry the offense with Adrian Peterson as the focal point. Couldn't be an easier spot to land in.
That said, no chance the Bears let Cutler go without franchising and trading him.
And I see people talking about how horrible the Vikings defense is, but the offense has put them in some very bad situations and it's pretty much the same defense that went 10-6 last year, and finished this season 4-3-1. I say either sign a FA QB or draft one early, and then use the rest of the picks on NT, MLB, CB, S, ect. Vikings are loaded on offense and on the offensive line.
The defense is not that far away. Not to mention we will no longer be using the "vaunted" Cover 2.
But they lost on Sunday - must has blame QB!Some Bears fans are funny. They ***** and complain about Cutler...must have a very short memory. Would you rather have:
Cade McNown
Shane Matthews
Jim Miller
Chris Chandler
Henry Burris
Kordell Stewart
Rex Grossman
Craig Krenzel
Chad Hutchinson
Jonathan Quinn
Kyle Orton
Brian Griese
Starting QBs before SINCE 2000 before Jay Cutler. No thanks, I'll take Cutler every day of the week. Especially if our other options are Matt Schaub or drafting a new QB.
