Jantz to WR

Barnett is pretty much the same as Jantz IMO. Jantz has better legs and playmaking ability, but Barnett is a touch more accurate and tends to make fewer mistakes. However, Barnett almost had three turnovers, but had a little more luck than Jantz did.
1. Fumbled the ball (went out of bounce)
2. Pretty sure there was a fumbled exchange b/w Barnett and White, but somebody jumped on it.
3. Threw a couple balls right into A&M players hands, but they dropped and and/or our wide receiver made a play to make them drop it.

If for some reason he doesn't get the job back, I would be pretty interested in seeing him at Safety. But I'm pretty sure he wins the job back this spring if not this year.
He's learning, and he showed the potential to be electric. If he can get healthy, he will probably have another shot.
My only worry is the fact that he is learning. Personally I would rather have a guy that is learning as a freshman or sophomore that has a lot of time left to play. If Jantz doesn't play again the rest of this season, he has one year left. Should ISU really give him the ball next year on his final year? Or should ISU make it a race between Barnett, Richardson, and Rohach and start working towards a future with one of them?
Jantz is athletic no doubt. He can get away from tacklers and get a better chance to make a play. But even before his injury, I wasn't really ever completely sold on his arm. I think Jantz with his athleticism could play a few other positions pretty well.
Hes going to get better just being in the system and practicing for another year. I'm expecting great things from Jantz next year. Hes shown the flashes, he just needs more time and practice to get more consistent. Its very common for QB's to throw a lot of INT's their first year and cut down big time the second.
if and thats a big IF jantz dosn't work out at qb i almost think he could be more use at the linebacker/safety hybrid position he has the most experience in that role as opposed to 16 games as a qb and his understanding of how an offense oerates could be helpful and hes 6'3" 225 so he has great size for that position as well
This is a good point. Keep in mind guys, Rhoads had said at the beginning of the season that if Steele and JB went down, we would probably be looking at Brett Bueker to play on 3rd string while preserving SR's RS. Let's not get too jumpy about moving people around when essentially have 2 scholly QB's and one is injured.
Especially after seeing Barnett run, he clearly doesn't grasp the slide. I was holding my breath when that aTm safety crushed him right in the right shoulder.

ISU should do whatever it takes to win that particular season. Even while rebuilding, don't treat a season as a throwaway. At least take the shot at winning that season.
Moving Jantz to WR is about the stupidest idea I have seen this week. He is fairly fast, but not WR fast, and he is not real shifty either. The guy has a cannon of an arm, and just has not played a lot of Quarterback in his life. I was hoping that his talent would overcome the lack of experience, but it did not. At this point the best think for Jantz and the team is for him to sit down, learn and heal. Maybe someone will beat him out next spring, maybe they will not. At this point I am not completely convinced that all of the INTs are his fault. The WRs are dropping a lot of passes and some are not running the right routes.

i agree with clonemed though.... jantz was not that awesome before he got hurt... had great moments, but had more bad moments.. im a huge steele fan still, but barnet still looked more accurate, and got rid of the ball quicker... the offense seemed a lot more crisp with him in the lineup... just an observation from someone with a steele superman shirt...
4. Also handed the ball off every time on the read option, despite A&M crashing the end all day. Luckily, he got away with it alot, but he has to be able to make the READS for the option to work.
And Sam will be holding the position for Grant Rohach, In 2013 or 2014.

I'm already calling for SR to be benched for Rohach in '13.....but seriously I think its too soon to call for SJ to be moved. After next spring if either he or Tiller are 3rd string, then one should move to another position. If JB wins the job, we'd still want a guy with some experience as the back up but IMO you'd have a pretty good athlete wasting away on the bench as your 3rd string QB, whether it were Jerome or Steele.
I agree, it was almost like he still had his juco mindset. He is a great playmaker when the protection breaks down but at times he seemed too eager for that to happen and forced things. Barnett by no means lit the defense up but he seemed to panic less and he just took off rather than trying to force a throw.
