Highway 20 across Nebaska

Hey, we are pulling a 34 ft RV to Yellowstone in late September. and was looking at different routs. Has anyone drive across Nebraska on Highway 20 lately? I'm curious as to what kind of shape it is in.

And yes I know Interstates 90 and 80 are options but quite honestly I'm no in huge hurry and the different in gas mileage between 75 MPH and 65 MPH with our rig is almost worth the extra time.

Friday OT - Raining Dogs and Cats

One time at work, a coworker told me I seemed like a cat person. I had never really considered the question before that, but I was instantly very mildly offended. I am firmly a dog person. Like most young girls, I had a phase when I was enamored with cats when I was in elementary school, but I love the affability and loyalty of dogs. They are so much more interactive, by and large.

Are you a cat or a dog person? Why is that, and do you have any stories related to it? Or are you team rabbit, team parrot, something else altogether?

Phone Scam Cross-Cultural Comedy Gold

Typically I don’t answer calls from unknown numbers (or calls from known numbers for that matter).

A few minutes ago an unknown number purportedly originating from Rome, GA called.

I ignored it.

It immediately called again.

I ignored it.

It immediately called again.

I answered, but didn’t say anything.

Eventual a woman speaks. She has an Indian accent. As expected, it is a scammer. She asks about a potentially fraudulent transaction on a credit card I don’t have.

I took a moment, then confirmed I made the transaction.

The phone goes silent for several seconds. She repeats the spiel and I again confirm I made the transaction.

She again goes silent. So I add “I guess your script doesn’t cover that scenario?” (Note: I am a ****).

She then takes a moment before saying something about my wife that I don’t quite get. So I ask her to repeat.

Her mic-drop retort (or rather call-drop retort):

I said our records show you’ve been having fun with your wife for the last several months and still don’t have any children. I guess your script doesn’t cover that.

Ireland Travel Advice

If somebody already made this then ignore this thread.

Since it seems a lot of people are flying overseas for the first time for this game, I figured I'd share some advice since I've been abroad a few times now.

1. Get on your new time zone ASAP! if you are on the plane it is 10pm in Ireland and 10pm is your bedtime, GO TO SLEEP! you probably won't get the full 8 hours, but starting sooner rather than later will be huge for you to adjust. Sleeping shoudl be your top priority regardless. You don't need to worry about entertaining yourself the whole flight if you're sleeping half the time as well.

2. Jet lag sucks, and if you arrive in the morning or afternoon I implore you to power through that exhaustion for the day until at least 8 or 9pm that night. iI you take a nap right when you arrive, you risk screwing up your whole trip.

3. Pack lighter than you think. If you have clothes for every day you are there and pajamas, then you'll be good. you don't need to bring 10 pairs of underwear for a 5 day trip (i promise you won't defecate yourself once a day). Plus, you'll have space for souvenirs!

Those are the ones off the top of my head but if any of you have any advice please feel free to share below!

Humor`

I've always traversed life with the idea that a little humor is a good thing. It never hurts to put a smile on someone's face. I have a tolerance for off-color jokes (in the right setting) that others may not have, avoiding putting others in an uncomfortable situation. After all, the end goal is to lift somebodies spirit--not to make it worse. Sometimes things seem bad enough that all we have left to do is laugh, and for an instant at least, that puts you in a better place. If you know your audience, you can give them that moment even if they don't presently need it--they may share it with someone that does.

Maybe this subject has been beaten to death on other platforms but i don't frequent them. If you have a joke to share I'd be willing to hear it (keep in mind your audience). I'll lead off with this:

A man and his wife just get seated at a fancy restaurant. Almost immediately a beautiful women appears out of nowhere and kisses the man on the cheek. In awe, the wife asks "what was that all about?" The man responds with "that was my mistress." The wife throws up her arms and declares "well, I'm leaving you--I want a divorce". The man then states "Well, if that's what you want, then Okay, just remember there won't be anymore vacations to the Riviera, no more Paris shopping sprees, no more gifts of diamonds for birthdays, anniversaries etc. About that time their friend John walks in with a blond wrapped around his arm. The wife notices and asks "Who is that with John--it's not his wife" The man replies "that's Johns mistress". The wife then proclaims "she's not as pretty as ours, is she?"

Asking a Favor: Ireland-Themed ISU Apparel to Dublin

Hi all - Cyclone fan checking in from my home in Germany (originally from Iowa). Heading to Ireland next week for the game. Can’t wait!

Have a request, and am hoping a fellow Clone fan pull through for me. I am seeing all sorts of great apparel at various stores in Ames that is Ireland-themed (most of which I can’t get my hands on due to living abroad). Would anyone be willing to pick up a couple items and bring them over to Ireland? Happy to pay a premium for someone willing to do me a solid.

Thanks in advance for any help. Go State!

On That Note: You Can Pack Your Suitcase

It’s mid-August, but summer vacation/trip season isn’t over. And, for some, it’s starting college or returning to college.

All those involve ... packing!

To focus on the “luggage” aspect, for this segment we seek songs with title/lyrics that include suitcase, luggage, bag, pack/packing and related terms.

On That Note is presented each week on Cyclone Fanatic by @MeanDean, @CycloneRulzzz and cyclones500.

Here's one to get the luggage cart rolling.

“Suitcase in my hand.”
