Who’s the closest thing we have to a David Booth?

I believe the business college at U of Chicago is also named for him.
Calling the Sukups? I don't know. What an amazingly large gift though.

Sadly, we don't have any billionaires, but we had a few CEOs.

If i would have to bet Todd Snyder is a pretty big fashion designer in NYC that is an Iowa State alum. He started a sports apparel company but sold it to American eagle.

"In 2024, Todd Snyder was described by the New York Times as “the righteous inheritor of Ralph Lauren's mantle” [21] and “arguably the most important American designer in Europe this season”[22] by GQ."

...and a second opinion.

those are not very good lists. that's just famous people, at best.

there are thousands of people in Iowa with net worth of $5M+, maybe tens of thousands

Beth Ford is the CEO of Land o Lakes.... perhaps she has a few million to toss in the pot. Certainly not at the $300 million level.

I mean, I'm jealous, and would have a different opinion if this happened to us. However, I still really hate what college athletics has become.

Agreed!! And several of them aren't even Iowa residents (Shawn Johnson, Kurt Warner, & Ashton Kutcher, etc.)

What about some of our guys who have made the Big Time (NFL, etc)?

Nobody says all the dough has to come from just one person.

Darrell Cronk (Chief Investment Officer over all of WellsFargo) is likely sitting on far more wealth than Todd is.
