Big Fish is not a bad choice. What is the standard of underappreciated? Small box office?

What, are you 12? Just kidding. Bottle Rocket is good, and I have kids, so can appreciate Iron Giant. One of my favorites that fits this category is "Where the Buffalo Roam".

It's Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas before "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas".

good call. Bill Murray as the good doctor. It covers a lot more of Hunter's work as well.

true but bill murray is not even close in this role once you watch fear and loathing. depp nailed that role, much like he does most all of the ones he chooses, and benicio is the perfect compliment. usually when you read a book, then they make a movie out of it, you are left disappointed by the movie. fear and loathing is the exact opposite-the movie only enhanced the book.

As long as we're talking about Bill Murray, I'm going to throw out "The Life Aquatic" as my favorite underappreciated movie. Murray was flat out awesome in that. Very understated and subtle. The cast was great. Visually very cool. And the music was fantastic. (David Bowie FTW)

I tried so hard to like The Life Aquatic after seeing/loving The Royal Tenanbaums but could not get into it.

My favorite movie is The Unforgiven. I know it's widely accepted as a good movie but I can't convince anyone I know to like it. The Crow probabably next in line as one of my favorites and I don't think I could ever talk anyone into watching it.

There Will Be Blood.

Not saying that it's not a good movie, but didn't "There Will Be Blood" win multiple Oscars? How do you define that as underappreciated?
