Not saying that it's not a good movie, but didn't "There Will Be Blood" win multiple Oscars? How do you define that as underappreciated?

It seems like there are a lot of people that haven't seen it. And it seems a lot of poeple that did, didn't like it at all or didn't "get it". I thought it was fantastic.

As long as we're talking about Bill Murray, I'm going to throw out "The Life Aquatic" as my favorite underappreciated movie. Murray was flat out awesome in that. Very understated and subtle. The cast was great. Visually very cool. And the music was fantastic. (David Bowie FTW)

Yes, yes, and yes once again. I love Life Aquatic. A buddy and I went as members of Team Zizzou for halloween one time.

As for me, Life as a House is one of my favorites. Hayden Christiansen in a good performance and Kevin Kline is flat out awesome in it. The premise is a little corny, but the performances and general feel of the film won me over instantly. The ending is perfect, and the movie doesn't pull any punches.

Yeah the ending was tough to watch. Very good film, though.

Sorry for the double post, but I'm interested in everyone's interpretation of the final line of "I'm finished." I have seen many things saying that it means his career is finished, his descent into madness is finished, and people really reading into it. I seem to think that he was simply telling his butler that he was finished with his dinner, and that signified that he was completely crazy because he paid no thought to the guy who's brains he just bashed in.

The way I took it is that, he is just done with everything. There is nothing left for him to do, and nothing left in his life. He had accomplished/destroyed everything.

Good call.

"You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity" - Bullet Tooth Tony

"Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels" is another quality Guy Richie film

This. Better than Snatch by a large margin, in my opinion.

I really enjoyed the movie Layer Cake as well and I'm not even sure if that was ever in movie theaters.

Also what about Lucky Number Slevin.

Out Cold (J.J. Jareaux from Criminal Minds before she was J.J.)
Ferris Bueller's Day Off (not so much underappreciated, more like more often forgotten due to its age)
12 Angry Men (virtually every TV show rips off this movie at one time or another)

I gotta throw Saving Silverman out there. I've had to introduce so many people to that movie, and everybody has loved it. O Brother, Where Art Thou would also have to make my most underappreciated list....

I have three and I'll probably get blasted for all three because by all accounts everyone else hates them. Along with Independence Day and others, these would also fit into the category of movies I have to watch every time I see them on television.

The Postman
Battlefield Earth
Waterworld

Another one that is very obscure that no one but me seems to remember is Timescape with Jeff Daniels, circa 1992. It's about a small town where strangers start filtering in and Daniels, an innkeeper where some of them are staying, learns eventually that they are time travel tourists, who go back in time to view catastrophic events from history. So ... oh, oh ... everyone's doomed.

As you can see, I like cheesy movies.

Gotta keep the Bill Murray theme going with "The Man Who Knew too Little" and not just because of the Des Moines name drop in the film. It just goes to show what a talent this guy is. Probably my favorite actor.

This discussion begins and ends with True Romance. A great movie by Tarintino that not many people have seen. It has a great cast of actors.
