Why is Conditt not getting more minutes?

Who’s angry?

Just the normal group of fragile fans that can’t handle any critiques not their own. Prohm himself alluded to missing an opportunity to play Conditt.

Not that hard to tell who is angry. The one attacking everybody.

This isn’t trying out 10-12.
It’s 8-9 and that’s a significant difference, particularly when #7 has proven to be extremely foul prone.

For a team that many say prioritizes small ball and positionless basketball at the 1-4, it’s surprising that the healthy Talley we saw last year doesn’t have a role this year, particularly given the struggles of a couple of the guys in the rotation. Given the suspension of Talley and the recruiting accolades of his competition, there’s likely a non-basketball component to it.

It’s not a huge deal, but there were opportunities to get bench guys more minutes. It’s a long play that some coaches don’t recognize or utilize.

Now this is funny. You better get out there and do some coaching clinics so they can learn what to do. I am sure your division one coaching resume is long.

Has repeatedly yelling LTG at 5th grade girls worked for you like you hoped? I bet you even participate in their scrimmages, don’t you?

I feel honored that you are using my catchphrase. Respect.
You may not know basketball but your knowledge of middle school vernacular is elite.

Back to the post that you felt that you needed to resort to false authority, there’s a big difference between working in players 8-9, and 10-12.

Thank you, kind sir.

Depends on the team and depends on the game. Like I said, haven't seen anything that would suggest they guys are worn out playing mostly 7. If that is what Prohm wants to roll with, so be it. He knows more than anyone on this board what guys are doing in practice and whether he trust certain guys in certain situations. He also knows more than anyone on this board what his specific plans are for the team and what his plan is for getting the team to be playing its best in the second half of conference play.

And I wasn't commenting on that part of your post. I was commenting on your suggestion that you know more than division one college coaches, in particular Prohm.

"It’s a long play that some coaches don’t recognize or utilize."

Ah yes, only FinalFourcy has this knowledge of coaching. If only, there were some way to impart this knowledge to Prohm, ISU would probably be undefeated.

Also, where did I use an argument from false authority?

So are you saying you want Prohm to be more like Fran over at EIU and play 10+ guys in order to make everyone feel good and like we aren't wasting talent? How has that worked out for him so far? There are going to be nights when we only play 7 because our best 7 players are just that good and there are going to be nights we play 8 or 9 because of foul problems, matchups, or 1 or more players just doesn't have the shooting touch and someone comes off the bench and surprises. There is no formula or set minutes for guys 8-10 on the bench right now and as long as we keep winning and stay competitive in games there is no reason to rock the boat just for the sake of getting a couple more guys some minutes. I'd rather have another 5 minutes or so of Lard and Wigginton right now than anyone else on the bench. Those 2 were playing 30+ minutes as starters last year so not like they will be gassed from getting an extra 5 minutes in the game and both are better than anyone else we have on the bench too.

Arguments like this are just petty. You aren't a D1 basketball coach and neither am I but seems like there at are a few here that think they can coach this team better than Prohm or are just grasping for any little thing they can to justify why they don't like him I guess.

The irony of you calling any fans fragile.

Did pop respond to you offering to go and teach him about basketball yet?

Prohm’s also alluded to missed opportunities to play guys, including Conditt. Once you learn the game, or just develop some basic reasoning abilities, you’ll realize this isn’t an astute observation that requires coaching experience, nor is it contentious. There have been low cost opportunities to play Conditt more than a combined 4 minutes in the last three games. Don’t get angry about that.

I never would have thought this thread would have so many posts. I am not saying Conditt needs to get a whole bunch of minutes. I was only surprised that he didn't at least get a few minutes in the KU game due to our foul trouble and not having rim protection. I was also surprised that he didn't get a few more minutes in the Ole Miss game due to the margin of victory.

The point of the forums is to discuss the team. The problem is some treat any criticism to extreme. I don’t think I’ve seen anyone call for more playing time than what you described in this post. It is a fair criticism that Conditt should have played more against Kansas. Lard fouls out in almost no playing time. Jacobson couldn’t play the whole game. That is the situational point that you get Conditt minutes. Conditt playing probably shouldn’t have been in the gameplan but we needed to make the in game adjustment and get him the opportunity.

Or, you know, since he was sick and only there to be used in an emergency situation, it’s possible that he would have only been used if there was no one else.

I’m sure glad this thread appeared, you have have been completely silent since Saturday. I had wondered where you had gone after we won a big game. Like not a peep from you, and several others.

I wonder why
