Just finished up Man in the High Castle on Prime. Thought it was pretty good, but the writing got lazy in the later seasons, could have closed a lot of other areas that should have been closed out.

I thought the first three seasons were as high-quality, prestige TV as TV could get, particularly since I think it first came out when streaming TV was really starting to take a foothold in pop culture. But that 4th season...yikes. I still don't know what the h*ll that was....

Band of Brothers starts at 10:00 am on AMC. A Memorial Day tradition for me.

At my house, we watched the James Cagney docu-drama, "The Gallant Hours" about Admiral Bull Halsey's 5-week participation in the Guadalcanal campaign.

I grew up watching WWII movies, but had never seen this one. It's quite a good mixture of straight-forward factual narration and Cagney over-acting (but just a little). You may even recognize Dennis Weaver as Lieutenant Commander Andy Lowe.

Streaming TCM on demand.

Just watched Episode 1, Season 1 of Reacher on Prime. Now THAT is how you cast the title character. Tom Cruise? Not so much.

Don't get your hopes up for the other two seasons. I had a bit of the same reaction to the first season, was quite good and seemed to recognizably follow the book. Not sure season 2's "book" choice was the best, turned into sort of a messy ensemble. And season 3? Woof. I finished it but wasn't in any hurry to get to the next episode.

Too bad the big dude playing Reacher can't act worth a lick. It still worked okay in season one but not so much after that. I might be having some burn out bias, I stopped reading the books some time ago after what number I don't recall.

I found Season 1 and all of the "kids" to be a bit off putting. Season 2 was better and Season 3 was best of the three by far. Just my opinion but you might want to give it another try since it was WAY better in Seasons 2/3.

Everything in viewer opinion is "debatable". I do quite like the Witcher (other than the annoying as hell Jaskier). Critic and audience scores do favor Wheel over Witcher, particularly Season 3. Witcher started strong and has weakened (to me) and Wheel was the opposite (weaker than strong).

Certainly possible.

The lows of Witcher have not been as bad as season 1. I said I finished it but man it was an absolute slog.

I liked season one, but i'm boycotting netflix until season 2 of Wednesday drops. The length of time between seasons on Netflix is awful.

It's been like that for everything the last few years. They won't even commit to making it until all the ratings are in for the current season.

John Hamm in "Your Friends & Neighbors" on Apple+ is pretty solid. Binged all available episodes over the weekend.

Haven't read thru the entire thread but has anyone mentioned "The Studio"? Also on Apple+. Very funny. Bryan Cranston was hilarious the final 2 episodes. Pretty sure it's been renewed for a second season. Worth a look.

The season finale of Everybody's Live with John Mulaney aired last night. If you like Conan O'Brien style weirdness, it's worth checking out. There were some truly bizarre bits this season. Not all of them landed, but I think that's honestly part of the charm. The Bone Thugs-N-Harmony through line might have been my favorite. @Angie

Has anyone watched season 2 of the rehearsal? The whole show is really weird and funny, but the finale was incredible.
Huge fan of Nathan Fielder. I think he's a genius and this season of The Rehearsal shows that. His shtick is weird and awkward, but that's kind of the point. If you've not seen his older series Nathan For You, I highly recommend it.

Watched the first episode of The Studio and loved it. Watched the second episode, and gave up on it. That second episode was awful…. Rogen’s character was SO annoying the entire thing. I’m assuming I should go ahead and keep watching though?? LOVE the Cranston character…. he is just SO good!

I enjoyed it a lot. I hope there is a second season. The only thing I didn’t like was Kathryn Hahn’s character. I love her in almost every role but not sure why they decided to go in that direction for her. Way too over the top and corny.

I don’t want to blame the guy on Reacher much. Let’s be real the writing is terrible.

For the record I’m watching Lioness right now and I absolutely love it.

Good point. Sometimes good writing = good acting. And, woof, that writing. Other than the brief exchange between the two mains about Yanks vs RedSox which was sort of funny. I almost couldn't stand listening to the Brit actresses terrible Boston accent.
