I agree........hearing the drums start up just makes the gametime atmosphere for me.

Yeah, it's the drum corps for me. Especially when they are around the stadium or in the concourse and it echoes.

I said the ISU fight song. The last two years I haven't been able to go to games, and have only been able to listen to them through Yahoo radio on my computer. Before every game I run around the house singing the fight song. My wife hates it, but it's become a ritual for me...

Anyway, what good is a FIGHT song if it doesn't get you pumped?

I wish on the first 1st down of the game they would say "thats a Cyclone 1st down" then go on the rest of the game with "that's another Cyclone 1st down." Each game is a new game, should not carry over from the last. Everything about the pre-game gets me going, except for Jeff Johnson.

After 4 years in the ISUCF'V'MB and the pep bands, I gotta vote for 'em. For me, marching bands are part of what set College football apart from every other sport.

I vote for the "dont know the words" song

I used to remember is ALWAYS playing this after the fight song, is it Jamie's doing to take this song away since it leads to everyone cursing. I just thought it was cool that we kinda made lyrics and a song out of one we had no idea what they actually were...

I first heard "That's another_______ FIRST DOWN" in 1999 at the University of Dubuque and we beat them 67-0. They were absolutely horrible. I'm sure someone had it before them, but I'll always think of them when I hear it and think it is very stupid. When did ISU start using it? '06 or so?

The band used to play a lot more period. Unfortunately, playing songs over the speakers seems to be where it's at now. The band can play most of those songs, and they would probably sound better than over the speakers.

Way up there
i heard once that the key jingling was borrowed from Iowa, and that the 'another cyclone first down' was borrowed from the Goofs? Say it ain't so Jamie! :) (he wanted a jump theme at ISU ala Wisconsin)

The key jingling has been around for atleast 20 years before anyone had heard of JP so that didn't come from him. The first down one is used by lots of people though, I remember Kstate using it in the mid to late 90's.
