How is it that Marquette who has 13 scholarships filled right now is recruiting so many guys that would need a scholarship this year. Nolan, Lockett, and Uthoff. Doesn't make much sense to me.
How would Fred have tampered with him? Didn't the transfer request come as a surprise to everyone, including Bo? It wouldn't be much of a surprise if Bo thought Fred was trying to recruit him.
The tampering angle just doesn't make sense. I think Bo showed his hand when he put the entire ACC on the restricted list after Virginia contacted Uthoff.
If Wisconsin had information that ISU had in any way tampered with a player on his team, don't you think they would go straight to the NCAA with that information?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but that would be an NCAA violation. If that were the justification I'm pretty sure we would know by now.
Furthermore, does anyone think it fits with Fred's character to be tampering?
Bo doesn't appear to be mature enough to handle rejection. He is acing in a pety and vindictive fashion because he didn't get what he wanted. This is sad to watch.
There is an easy solution for this type of abuse of power. Give the student athletes that are currently on scholarship the power to decide what schools a coach can consider if he decides to purse a different job. I will guarantee no coach would accept those terms.
Didn't Virginia only ask permission to contact Uthoff?
My mistake, your right. Virginia asked Wisconsin for permission and then Ryan put the entire ACC on the restricted list.

Just think about how many schools he would restrict if it was actually one of his best players like Jordan Taylor. I mean we are talking about a very thin redshirt freshman who hasn't played a minute of division 1 basketball, which makes the amount of restrictions even more ridiculous.
I guess they shouldn't have asked.
I don't think Fred is as squeaky-clean as some believe, and I don't want him to be.
I agree this whole thing is making Bo look like a petty *******, but I think we need to look at this from the other side.
Universities make a four, an most times, five year committment to these players. Were talking about $100k at a minimum the player will "recieve" over that period of time. With the way transfers are happening, it seems that both coachers and players need to do a much better job of vetting their prospects when choosing the appropriate place.
Other than this restriction list, what is the punishment for transfering? Sit out a year? Thats not very tough punishment when you continue to get your school paid for. I think transferring might even be encrouaged for some as a way to get a graduate degree out of the scholorship as opposed to "just" an undergrad degree.
Again I agree Bo is just sour, but JU is the one who decided to go to Wisconsin, and he is the one changing course, not Bo.
But I seriously doubt anything was initiated from Fred. My guess is that Jarrod was unhappy, and let his family know. Then either his uncle or parents (they would know Fred from recruiting) sent out feelers to see if there would be interest on our part if JU were to transfer.
That is obviously complete speculation, but if there was any contact, that is very likely how it happened. I see no plausible reason why Fred would proactively try to communicate with a prior recruit who was redshirting.
I really don't know what to think about this being a Cyclone and a Badger fan
ah yes, and now the complete ineptitude of university personnel.

I would think they may be a little more apt to lift restrictions just for looking so inept.
