IMO the only good thing USA Today does that involves sports is the publication of the Sagarin Ratings for both football and basketball and that huge and very well-done NCAA Tournament Preview that comes out the morning after Selection Sunday.

Otherwise I think it's mediocre at best. I remember a number of years ago they did a story of Jeff Hornacek and wrote that he was a walk-on at KANSAS STATE. Pretty much killed any credibility they may have had.

If ISU does not get to a Big 12 bowl game then yes, we would have to wait for all the 7 win teams to get picked up first. I am not worried about this though. The Big 12 has operation screw Mizzou and screw A&M (unless it is a bowl game in Texas). ISU will be selected ahead of both of those teams. ISU will be in the Holiday Bowl, count on it. (I had it in my preseason prediction just like the Okie St. win so it must be true.)

Two years ago, I read my first sports article from the USA Today. It involved a prediction of Iowa State beating Oklahoma State because "Iowa State wants it more." I knew from that point on never to trust the USA Today's sports opinions. Sure enough, Iowa State lost that game 34-8.

Not true. That rule no longer exists.

And THAT'S why ISU is guaranteed a bowl game. Bowls don't have to take a 7-5 MAC team over a 6-6 BCS conference team. With our fans' travel reputation, the only question about a bowl is where.

They also have 2 B10 teams in BCS bowls... does anybody think that's actually going to happen? I mean, really.

Yes...remember it does not reward you for being good. The teams are picked on either being a good TV draw or bring a lot of fans. This is why the Big 10 almost always gets 2 teams in. The Big 10 has stunk for quite awhile but they pack bowl games.

The Rose Bowl will end up with the champ, and there may not even be another eligible team.
