I guess I dont know the history much. What else does he have on him?

convicted of supplying alcohol to a minor, which bizarrely is also a serious misdemeanor in iowa (same level crime as the 4th degree theft)

Why limit it to just athletes? Why not be outraged every time an ISU student gets arrested? Or since he can put a round ball through a hoop it somehow means more?

So to answer your question... I don't care because I do not get wrapped up in things 18-22 year olds do.

I don't really care if a former athlete gets in trouble, yeah you want them all to succeed and represent the school well but mistakes happen. In his defense though I wouldn't care at all if some random ISU student broke his leg but I'd def care if he was an athlete

Yes, anyone who does it should be ashamed, but a basketball player is a face of the school. One that is nationally known and can reflect poorly. Hell, they use their faces for marketing tools. It matter more. If Joe Schmo does it, noone will notice.
Can't tell if you're serious...

Ok yeah, I think I remember that. I was thinking it was something worse.

Technically, he's still on scholarship, but yes, I see your point.

All ISU students are not in the public eye, and are most certainly not held to the same standards (rightly or wrongly) as are ISU, or any college athletes.

If you don't care......that's fine. Just as it is fine for those of us who do care. No need to question it.

I will never understand why talented young people make such stupid mistakes, especially when they make them more than once.

This is likely a minor offense, yet it may totally mess up a lot of opportunities that may have been there for him in his future. Whatever it was, it's a dumb move.

I hope things work out for him, but let's face it.....really nothing good can come from this.

Agree with this. I find nothing close to comical about it.

Hes a former player, hes not the face of anything right now. Does Rumeal Robinson reflect poorly on the Michigan basketball program?

Besides the obvious issues with stealing from a moral standpoint, it just seems dumb. I wasn't sure when Rag says campus food court if they meant a dining center or MU food court, but everyone knows those campus dining centers have cameras. Didn't another athlete take a phone or something from Seasons and get caught on camera? My son said just the other day that he saw Tyrus, Babb, and McBeth at the UDCC. All the kids know there are cameras there. Did he just think no one would care? At least I know he didn't take it from my son's wallet, he has never had $220 in cash on him in his lifetime.:biglaugh:

It was speaking more to the general idea of a basketball player doing something stupid and it meaning more than the average student. Hes not that far removed from the program yet, but its relevance is fading, yes.

Where I practice the VAST majority (like 90%) of 4th degree theft cases are bad checks.

Rag article indicates he nabbed a couple hundred bucks out of a stray wallet. I say it was legally abandoned property and his actions were completely legal.

The real question is, what college student is leaving their wallet laying around with $220 in it? I think bad choices were made on both sides of that fence.

1. 3TrueFans was on a roll in this thread. Pure comedy.
2. Supplying to minors does not count as a previous record
3. Yeah it sucks, but some people are getting way too worked up about this

I will never understand the amount of stupid one's head has to contain to think, "oh yeah, I'll just steal _____" whether it's a laptop/textbook in the library or MU, cash from a wallet, etc. I don't care what anyone says, those aren't "high character" people. Those are "high character as long as I know someone is watching me if not screw it" people.
