Just be careful. I use it from time to time. A buddy of mine was contacted by his ISP to stop downloading show illegally because FOX or someone contacted them. He didnt get in trouble, but it was a friendly warning by the ISP. isohunt.com and mininova.com are the two sites I use. Bittorrent is sweet because they are pairing up with alot of hardware vendors and such to download legal content. Very cool stuff.

On the road...
I use bittorrent and thepiratebay for my downloading needs. Never have had a problem other than to make sure the files are compatable with your windows media or whatever you use to play the files. Otherwise you have to redownload everything.

torrentz.com is really all you need, it is like the google for torrents it will bring up torrents from all the sites that people are listing and much more!... you don't download them through that site, you find the one you want and it will link you to one of the other sites just helps you find them a little easier!

By the way the two clients I have personally liked the most are Utorrent and Bitcommet just my opinion though! Which clients do you guys use?

Utorrent is my fave. I've tried bitcomet, bit tornado, maybe a few others, I like utorrent the best, and it seems to be the fastest for me.

thepiratebay is nice because for most downloads there are quite a few comments that you can read over in case something about the download may be bad/wrong/incompatible.

Also one more tip for ya which I assume you already have done. Make sure your port is open for what ever client you use, I'm assuming it is though because you didn't say anything about it going very slow!

I find it funny a moderator is openly talking about torrents, but anyways.

Are you using public or private trackers. If you are using public, I highly recommend not seeding anything. Thats the only real way to get in trouble.

But find some good private trackers, speeds are way faster and you are invisible (well almost) from getting in trouble.

Can you explain this? I think it's downloading pretty slow. I literally just started using it so I'm figuring it out as I go.

Of course I am. Why would you think otherwise?

I use torrentz.com and Halite (lesser-known, but the least memory-hogging torrent downloader I've used)

I've never had a problem with music or tv shows that can be otherwise be seen legally on the internet, but I stay away from shows on HBO or Showtime and movies.

I'm absolutely shocked when I hear about people still using Limewire or something like that.

Torrents are great. I use utorrent. Use to use azereus but it's just too bloated.

I get a lot of stuff from Demonoid. I like that place.

Also, downloading the newest version of Ubuntu on release day through the torrents is amazing. ~700 megs in a few minutes.

I'm trying to get 2 gigs and it's going to take 12 hours. How can I get a faster download speed?

I did tests and it said I was at 1.7mbps download speed.

It's all about seeders and peers and how big the swarm is. If there are plenty of seeders, check your ports. You may need to configure it through your router.

Basically, I want more seeders than Peers. Right? It'll download faster if that's the case, correct? I'm getting around 40Kbps right now. Is that pretty bad?
