I am good friends with a former player and he was telling me at the KU game that CPR and Herman didn't see eye to eye on a lot of things. I don't want to say he was forced out be it might have been a situation where CPR said if you have another job offer you better go ahead and take it. CPR will find another great coach, I'm not concerned about this at all.

@piaka82: dang we lost our OC to the buckeyes? smh dam lol” it's cool though we'll find someone

This was a tweet right after Rogers recieved an in-home visit (idk the coach). Had to think the coach discussed this with him, and they didn't seem to be too worried.

IMO, that's a big loss. I thought the offense looked pretty good this year.

We had alot of TO's, but we were successful moving the ball.

I'm torn on this. On one hand I think we had some nice pieces in place for next year. On the other, I don't think our offense has been nearly as dynamic as I would have expected the day Herman's hiring was announced.

I can believe that Rhoads got frustrated with Herman, our offense has certainly been behind our defense. Maybe that explains why he's taking a step down. But it's highly plausible, much more so than many here seem to think, that taking that step down is in many ways just a lateral move with a potential for a higher ceiling. Who knows.

Won't miss him

Long term probably not. But I'm concerned this will set back the offense a little bit for next year. There will probably be a learning curve to adjust to the new OC and will recruits back out? Also this will affect bowl preparation if he isn't allowed to coach them.

Agreed.

I'm tired of having our offense only average 21-24 PPG. This isn't the SEC. You need to score 30+ to win in this league. Wally has been keeping our team afloat many times in the last couple years. I hate to lose Herman because I did like him but he wasn't very good IMO. Short term this blows but long term this is good most likely.

Re: Herman to Ohio State?

I doubt he's leaving,,,

If it DID happen, his leaving would help solidfy CPR's staying. CPR is not going to be in the (outside) market without a head offensive coach and a defensive coach that is 65+ years old.
:yes::yes:

CPR is in for the long haul!

i don't know if it has been discussed on this thread but where does this leave us for the bowl game? i think Rhoads can replace Herman for the long haul without hurting recruiting or next season's offense much. but who leads the prep and then calls the plays against Rutgers without a mensa member in the press box? we should win this game.

one more thing. someone mentioned all the false starts. you try to weigh 350 pounds, get down in a 3 point stance, then hold it for 25 seconds while all the skill guys are looking over to the sideline 2 or 3 times. call the play already. as the Brits like to say, Herman was too clever by half much of the time. although i do think he had a lot of upside as a QB coach and OC.

Re: Herman to Ohio State?

I am 38 years old and have been going to Iowa State games faithfully since 1977. Hardly a troll.

I just happen to know someone with really good information on the subject.
Don't feel too bad. Very dangerous to come out with info here. For example, earlier today, the entire baseball world is shocked by a late move by the Angels to get Albert P and a SITE MOD comes in to call me out because I have bad sources (the source was the Cardinal organization itself ........ they were dumbfounded as well). Herman is going but if he changes his mind and stays, you'll get called out for being wrong. Moron.
