I thank Herman for the work he has done here because I agree he did a pretty good job with what he had to work with.
I think you have to honestly expect that we will lose younger coordinators to bigger jobs. If we aren't then there is probably something wrong or the coordinators have settled on the program.
Totally agree. If he was going to be OC at Ohio State, it wouldn't raise any questions. Heck, if he was brought in to be OC at a dozen other "bigger programs" it would be an upward move.
But QB coach? That's a job you take after losing your OC job, after failing to make a bowl or something. Not when you are at the helm of a bowl team's offense with freshmen at center and QB!
Somethings crackers here. Again, it isn't like I think losing Herman is the worst thing that has ever happened to the program - he was clearly better than his predecessors but not exactly coordinator of the year, either.
I can't imagine willingly giving up a Big 12 BCS offense to coach the qb position in, of all places, the Big 10.
I don't care how great an internship with Urban Meyer might be. It just seems like a bizarre career move - one of those that can leave him out of the game-running business for years.
I can't believe that's what he wants. But maybe the risk of that is less than I perceive.
