This makes me angry all over again. Shame on Prohm for scurrying away with $5.3 million and giving us Jeff Beverly and Merrill Holden. There was a time in the not-so-distant past where shame and morality governed weasels like him

Not surprising he’s bringing down a once-proud Murray St program too

I’m sure Fran will procure a similar buyout.

Eh, its not like Prohm ****** us over. He just wasn't very good.

I blame that more on Pollard signing him to a knee-jerk extension after winning the big 12 tournament in 2019.

Agree. If Fran does leave after this season, it will be a two-way decision and spun as a "retirement" with a negotiated payoff. They don't want to fire their coach who has the most wins in Iowa history and, even if they did, they're not in the financial position at this time to make it happen.
I don’t know how much more clear I can make this. Fran isn’t walking away from his money. I’m not sure why this is a thing.

The financials of hiring DeVries is a good point.

The question that we’ll see about after the season is whether Fran is ready to move on or not. If so there will likely be a negotiated agreement that works for both him and UI. He’s made enough $$$ he’ll be fine.

Now, if he’s not ready to be done, he should hold out for all he’s owed.
All he's got to do is tell Beth to look at the "body of work". He has her hostage and he's going to get major $$$ for how that awful fanbase treated his kids.

Heck, they'd care more about women's rowing if they were any good at it. They are the definition of fair weather fans.
Women's rowing is just an afront to title ix and balancing numbers. I can speak with first hand experience that some of those athletes were JV at best in their HS sports. They have zero interest in making rowing anything more than I just described

We all can agree Creighton is a better job than Iowa. The issue is Fran is 5 1/2 years older than Greg.

Is there smoke with Greg wanting to hang it up or something? He and Creighton are still performing while Fran and Iowa aren't.
Mac just signed an extension through 2032. He's earned the right to go out on his terms.

If DeVries goes to Iowa, would any of the current players fit his style? Mass exodus and how much NIL would it take for him to buy a roster?

No way they can sustain these low attendance games especially without the women's team to distract fans. They have the money to fire him.

Hire Connor McCaffrey, he now has coaching experience at Butler lol.
Where would the pressure come from to get rid of him? Fans don't care about men's basketball and have been in a show me mode for 10 years with Fran already. There was 1000 people at last night's game, it isn't like the fans are going to become even more apathetic. It's not like Iowa being bad in mbb hurts the athletic department financially. Goetz can ride out the contract just to make Fran be the one to pull the plug and save the money of buying him out. Call his bluff Beth! Make him say, "I quit!"

They pretend to care about women's hoops but that ship is sailing.
I think they are already trying to get that coach fired like they think they got the Fever coach fired.

These all time winning coaches in football and men’s hoops deserve lifetime contracts. Make it so, Iowa AD.

It’s pretty hilarious how poorly they’re already handling the post-Clark era. Jensen will be fine but they already want her canned for Jennie.

I think they are trying to hold on through this year to avoid it being obvious what fair-weather, band-waggoners they are, but by next year it'll be half full again.
