No. I would rather do different home and homes with different major programs.

I'm pretty sure we wouldn't turn down a series with Michigan because it's probably our best recruiting state. Not to mention it's not mutually exclusive to doing other home/home series with other opponents.

I'd like to take a moment here and mention my respect for Michigan. They could have taken the coward's way out like Virginia did, but they chose to come play this game instead of buying it out.

I respect them for sticking this thing out, especially in light of the storm they were walking into. I wish more programs did this sort of thing.

What game did UVa buy out of? Didn't we do a home and home with them mid 2000's? Maybe I'm mis-remembering something.

I agree with this. But it is more common in basketball for big time programs to play against each other noncon than in football. The tourney committee won't look at this as a "bad loss" for Michigan at all, so it probably won't hurt them at all in the long run. Gives them a quality opponent and experience in a hostile road environment.

Also, just looked at Michigan's schedule. Holy crap. They are serious about their schedule.

We played them in 2010 at their house (we won) and they owed us a return game.

Thing is, whoever we play will have to have pretty strong home court advantage or they aren't going to be willing to come to Hilton.

A rivalry cannot be created out of just wanting to start a rivalry, see Iowa vs Nebraska.

What? You mean when you think big-time college basketball rivalries you dont think Iowa-Nebraska or Northwestern-Rutgers? I'm sure the Big 10 suits will introduce a trophy for them.
