If Joakim Noah is almost an All-Star, then Royce White is definitely an NBA caliber player.

He'll be missed, but it was fun watching him play and develop under Freddy and his open-minded offense. Just remember that players come and go, but the coach drives the bus. We'll be watching good basketball for years to come long after Royce thanks to Freddy. You've just got to enjoy the stars while they're here and always look forward to the next class.

edit: I certainly wish Royce the best of luck in the NBA, but he's the kind of guy who will be successful no matter what he does. Should he decide to come back, well that would be awesome... but surprising!

If he went late first round, at least he could be on a good team. We keep talking lottery and that just means you play for the Bobcats, Warriors, Wizards or Nets. I'd rather see him at Chicago(they need a scorer and he could fit their style of okay well) or OKC Thunder.

going on a good team is not always a good thing. he may just get buried in the depth chart.

As someone mentioned earlier, it's all about potential. Davis has it. IMO, so does Royce. That's what makes me think he'll have a shot at going in the first round.

The good thing is that he has a great adviser in Fred who has NBA contacts as well as NBA front office experience to give Royce honest and realistic information and I just don't see him telling Royce he is a lock to go in the 1st round. You still have to look at his body of work over the entire season not just the past 2 games. His FT% and defense are 2 areas he has a lot of work to do and I think he could use some work on his post moves with his back to the basket.

If he were to consistent put up games like he did these past 2 he would be a lotto pick in another year. He's a tremendous talent and great passer and ball handler for his size but he's going to be a dynamic PF in the NBA and has a lot to work on right now. Does he risk not going in the 2nd round and sitting at the end of a NBA bench or playing in the D League or does he come back to a team that will be loaded with talent and he'll be the focal point and get the added exposure needed to elevate his draft stock.

I was a student during the Fizer years and I knew he was gone after his junior year. He had nothing left to prove or gain by staying another year although selfishly I hoped he came back and took ISU to the Final 4. I look at Brackins and wonder what would have happened had he stayed another year because he hardly plays in the NBA although you can't blame him for taking the money because he was a near lock for the 1st round when he went out. I think when Craig came out he was more ready than Royce is right now even though Royce has more talent I just don't think it is developed enough yet to make that next step.

the draft express site has davis going as #1 overall!!?!

He is not that great.

Dude, he is going to go #1 overall no matter who has the top draft choice. He completely changes the game. His presence on the inside frees up the rest of the defenders to pressure the shooters, which is the reason we couldnt hit anything tonight. He has great range out to about 18 feet and did you notice he was the player shooting the fts after FH got the T? He is a beast. Most impressive of all is that even with the number of shots he blocks and contests he never puts himself in a position to pick up a foul. He is an amazing player.

And he's nowhere near his potential yet.

It was also supposed to be common sense that Brackins was going pro after his sophomore season. Just sayin'.

The difference is that Brackins SHOULD have gone out after his sophomore year....That draft was weak, and by staying he cost himself at least 4-5 spots...

This is a very strong draft, as has been mentioned many players stayed in school an extra year because of the uncertainty.

I am not sure what is going to happen. I wish Royce the best. He was tremendous this year, and deserves good things to happen for him and his family.

When asked in post game presser what was most disappointing about the loss, Royce said he felt like he let Ames down tonight and all the great fans... No matter what happens, this man will always be a great cyclone.

I agree with those that say if Royce comes back we could win the conference next year. If he comes back he's preseason Big 12 POY and IMO we contend for a top 3 seed. If he's gone I still think we're on the bubble and end up about where we were this year.

Regardless he doesn't owe us anything else. He gave us a great year. It's a loaded draft but it only takes one team to draft you in the first round. He could be a great addition to a team like the Warriors. He'd be totally wrong for a team like the Spurs. I wish him the best with whatever decision he makes. One of the most interesting players we've ever had and regardless of what happens, he, Scotty, and Allen made this one of the most fun years in my memory.

LOL..... age premium??? Its not as if he went to play major league baseball for 6 years and then came back to college. If he stayed next year he would be the same age as a 4 yr guy. Royce may well go pro this year but it wont be because one more year will make him too old. You have to remember that he's not played a lot of organized basketball beyond the HS level. Basically one season where he actually played

In the Register article (that I'm trying to find again) he said, "Ames gave me my life back." He has a bond to this town and school.

I'm prepared for my daily series of heart attacks waiting for the answer.

If Joakim Noah is almost an All-Star, then Royce White is definitely an NBA caliber player.

Noah is a 70% free throw shooter and absolutely strokes his 10-15 footer, ugly as it may be compared to RW. He's also a top 3 true center in the NBA.

I think I may be the only Cyclone Fanatic who regularly watches the NBA.
