Football Scoop is passing along this report and also reporting Ayeni will stay on.

Iowa State: Jordan Strack of WTOL in Toledo reports that Matt Campbell plans to bring Toledo offensive coordinator Jason Candle and offensive line coach Tom Manning with him to Iowa State. ISU running backs coach Louis Ayeni, Campbell’s good friend, will stay on as well.

So I should be excited about this, correct?

@JordanStrack: Campbell will absolutely be taking Tom Manning with him to ISU. Jason Candle will go as well. Louis Ayeni on the ISU staff is staying.

Jesus, we are gutting Toledo.

My my initial worry was because of a Chiz memory. But stepped back a bit and am interested in learning more.

Ehhh, where are these guys recruiting ties?

Looks like both of them are, like Campbell, Ohio guys who went to mount union and coached there and toledo.

From Rivals, looks like Candle did some recruiting in FL and PA, most of Manning's recruit targets were OH kids.

It sounds like Candle would have had at least a decent shot at getting the Toledo HC job. For him to tie his future to Campbell says a lot about his belief in the guy.

Out with the old and in with the new. Younger coaches compared to the previous staff. This could really be a good thing. As long as we can keep the Florida/Texas recruiting pipeline, I'll be impressed. The chances of making Ohio a recruiting pipeline would be a great thing. Let's see how he fills out the rest of his staff. Especially on the defensive side.

If Tom Herman leaves Houston for the Big Time, I would make a hard press to get his DC, Todd Orlando, although statistically, the Toledo defense was pretty good, too.

Orlando's defenses are ball hawking, turnover focused defenses that have been near the top of FBS for the past four years. He currently earns $500,000 working for Herman as DC.

So apparently the entire Toledo staff will follow CMC. Makes perfect sense since an Ohio MAC team's staff will be entirely familiar with the Big XII's recruiting landscape.

Can we bring back Wayne Bolt, and Robert McFarland while we're at it?...
