You do know that Columbia is the pit of Misery, right?
Can't play 9 conference games with 11 teams. Math doesn't work.
Sure you can. The B1G Televen played even fewer conference games and were ok with some teams missing each other from year to year (not protected rivalries, of course). The top two finishers would meet in the championship even if they dodged each other on the schedule.
No, you can't. The number of teams in a conference multiplied by the number of games each team would play has to result in an even number for a viable schedule. A 10-team conference can play any number of games they choose (for instance, 9) because it will always result in an even number of games (10 x 9 = 90). An 11-team conference cannot play an odd number of games (for instance, 9) because it will always result in an odd number of games (11 x 9 = 99). And, for the record, the 11-team Big 10 played 8 games per team (11 x 8 = 88).
I was at that game and saw a UCONN fan throw Cy off of a set of stairs that led to the lower level seats in the end zone. That was really sad. Some dude almost threw a punch at me for cheering for the Cyclones, but my friend saw him coming toward me and cooled the guy off. That was one tough crowd who really didn't understand big time, nationally televised football. From that experience I was never a fan of letting UCONN join our conference. They don't get football.ahem....Cy's wing too
Gotta disagree. We should never play mizzou in anything ever again.I don't mind playing Mizzou in non-conference now, that school is a cesspool anymore so was not a huge loss to the Big 12 IMO. I think Colorado jumped the gun when they left because had they stayed they probably would have benefited more financially staying in the Big 12. Nebraska benefited financially by going to the Big 10 but competitively they probably lost a lot of ground in their main sport that funded their athletics with football. By moving to the Big 10 they lost out on their recruiting pipeline to Texas that made them so successful in the past since they no longer play road games in Texas which helps with recruiting talent from that state when you play at least 1 or 2 road games a year in their state.
I know this is a FB thread, but looking at the bigger picture across all sports I would like to see some home and home games scheduled with Mizzou, Nebraska, Minnesota, and Illinois in basketball as not only logistically does it make sense but adding games against power 5 schools helps RPI. Heck right now none of those schools scare me in football either to schedule a home and home series too and that game would have appeal for both fan bases.

Why not? They share a border and are a former Big 8 and Big 12 school. Any win over them is better than most teams we play non-conference. Financially they are a bigger draw for ticket sales than some no name cupcake team.
Theese two statements won me over. Dilly frickin dillyMizzou sold a lot of tickets with the new coach and the kid who hasn't played. I see how you can justify them from the RPI standpoint, but really in the end F*ck them they went whoring to the SEC and deserve the pit of Misery.

Mizzou was the school which started the realignment/Big 12 instability BS when they openly flirted/stated they were in the B1G. Mizzou headed the expansion committee talking out of one side of their mouth, then out the other went to the SEC. Mizzou had the nerve to cite their leaving the Big 12 due to "instability" (which they created and sustained.) Then their team wore SEC stuff after winning the Big 12 tournament and their fans chanted S-E-C. Finally they were arrogant that KU wouldn't keep their annual football game after this performance. While all of this is pathetic enough, it really cost ISU, which was rumored to be one of the orphans if the Big 12 blew up. ISU should have nothing to do with Mizzou.
Mizzou was always easy to hate, and I don't feel the least bit sad for them.
They didn't make their bed, they pissed all over it. They can lay in it.
