Pollard has already said the new SEZ video board will be "very similar" to the NEZ one we already have. So to answer your question Yes!This is me randomly hoping in this thread, did I hear somewhere that the SEZ videoboard will be similar size dimensions with the NEZ scoreboard?
Google is your friend  http://www.cyclones.com/PhotoAlbum.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=10700&PALBID=7510It would be cosmetic, so probably will not be done because of the cost. But, imagine if the vertical steel understructure beams were faced with concrete panels that matched the rest of JTS's external surfaces. Cosmetic pillars similar to those around the exterior of Hilton. Would really add to the appearance, I'd think.
Nevertheless, imho, we're going to wind up with a fine stadium. Other places are building new because those schools have little choice, their buildings were so far outdated. Minnesota's big old Memorial 'U', for example. Our digs will be pretty snazzy. They won't be embarrassing to me; I guess others here feel differently, though.
Remember, when JP first arrived and he issued building concept updates? One of the graphics illustrated glassing in Hilton's exterior vertical supports to create a large concourse under Hilton's roof overhang. Probably too expensive to ever be done, unless it can be justified by expanded interior seating, maybe. To my little mind, Hilton's exterior is the most impressive college basketball arena in the nation. Add the glass, and wow.
Anyone have a link to Hilton with the glass enclosure?

That would look awful. They already have enough cheesy, overdone graphics plastered to every bit of glass, fencing, and concrete possible. They need to purge some of that with this project, not add more. One cosmetic thing that wouldn't cost much, but I think would really help, would be to wrap the steel supports for the NEZ scoreboard with Iowa State Cyclone themed tarps of some sort.
Maybe it would look cheezy, I'm not sure, but I think we should hide those metal supports somehow.
Even with the stadium addition, I think Baylor will have the best stadium in the Big 12, but if A&M was still in the conference it would be them however.

South end of the intramural fields.I'd underlight the Cyclone logos on the wings of the scoreboard--during night games, they disappear.
Just curious, if the capacity is increased by 4,200, where will the additional parking come from?
I'm guessing you haven't been to any other stadiums? OSU has a great stadium that I think will still stand well above Baylor's. TCU's is nice, but small, similar to Baylor's. UT and OU are still nice stadiums, especially considering their size, but I think that size puts them above BU too. I think KU is dead last, then WVU, then TTU, then KSU, then BU/TCU, then ISU, OU, UT, and OSU at the top. ISU and KSU could be swapped depending on how the renovations go, but Trice holds up very well in the overall atmosphere/appearance rankings.
The amount by which Boone Pickens Stadium blows away Jack Trice Stadium in appearance more than negates the argument that our atmosphere is better. There aren't many stadiums which look as terrible on the outside as ours does.

There are dozens of stadiums that look far worse on the outside. Even the storied Auburn stadium looks like crap compared to JTS. I don't think. JTS looks too bad.
The metal skeleton structure supporting the north scoreboard is a similar aesthetic to the roofline of the Bergstrom indoor practice facility and the Jacobson Building. You may not personally like the look, but it's not like it's the only place in the entire complex with an exposed beam design.
Our entire NEZ has been so botched over the years it's just laughable. At least the SEZ will look good. (Hopefully)
As far as Big 12 stadiums go though, I'm sorry but JTS is probably the worst one besides KU IMO. Now you can argue about the best "atmosphere's", because that includes everything like parking, tailgating, how many people actually attend the games, etc. ISU is pretty good at that part.
But just looking at the stadium structure itself, JTS is pretty bad. And then we had the opportunity to make a tunnel for the players to walk out of in the northwest corner of the field, but instead we make it come out right behind the freeway sign structure (scoreboard) where nobody can see them come out. It just seems like we botch so many good ideas somehow. I just hope the SEZ isn't messed up somehow.
