Well, he was "1000% committed" to ISU. Until he wasn't.

If you are committed and than post how blessed you are to get an offer from another school you just aren't really committed anymore.

Honestly collecting offers and then saying no thanks actually helps our recruiting. When people look at our players they look at offers and rankings. If he does flip then yes thats a blow but less people would look down at us for losing a recruit to a home state blue collar. The offer may not desired by him anyway.

From a Buckeye Recruiting article:

"The 5-foot-10, 210-pound three-star back out of Winton Woods High School in Cincinnati has been committed to the Cyclones since July 4, but it will be seen if he can be swayed to stay home.

Along with Georgia Tech commit Jahmyr Gibbs, Williams could end up being a lower-rated commit who flips and serves as a backup option to add depth. That’s if the Buckeyes are unable to land a four-star prospect like Kevontre Bradford, Michael Drennen II or E.J. Smith."

That makes it sound like he's extremely important to OSU lmao

I think we will be okay on this one for the most part.

If you mean okay either way I think you are right. Would be a good get but not exactly a ball buster if we don't with Hall and Brock already here. And, who knows, Brock might even end up a redshirt depending on how things play out.

At this point he is also a backup option to add depth for us also. He isn't guaranteed any more playing time at ISU than he is at OSU. It'll just come down to if he is attracted to the brighter lights of the blue blood. I hope we can hang on to him.

So wait...have we shifted into "didn't want him anyway" mode yet or are we still waiting for official word that he's de-committed?

We shouldn't ever play the we didn't want em anyway card. I kinda hate that because if ISU offered the coaches really do want him. Isn't that more of a Hawkeye basketball recruiting card anyway? ;)

Interesting, my spell check just flagged Hawkeye. Let me try it with a lowercase; hawkeye. Nope, doesn't like that either.

Both. No shame in losing a guy to TOSU that’s from Ohio. The odds say that the kid is probably a life long fan and it would be a dream of his to play there. I would set the over/under on the number of Eddie George/Beanie Wells/Carlos Hyde/Zeke Elliott jerseys floating around the Williams house at 9.

Eh. He’s a kid. I don’t really hold these sorts of thing too hard against them.

As we shouldn't. If he finds a better opportunity somewhere else, go for it. One life to live, so do what makes you happy (handled in a mature manner). Anyone in these recruiting threads that says they haven't done the same thing is lying to themselves.

Not necessarily dissing him cause, as you point out, just a high school kid. Just pointing out he can't be 1000% if he is still talking and visiting other schools. Kinda like saying "Yes, Suzy, I am probably still taking you to prom but Karen looks to be available now. I'll let you know soon!".;)

You don't need to bring your personal history into this
