Didn't we just have a discussion on would you rather have Georges for 4 or Noel for 1? Here we go.

Re: Rashad Vaughn - Announcing Tuesday

Oh well. I guess we have to wait on the conference championship for another couple of years. These last 2 days have got to be 2 of the most disappointing days I have had as a Cyclone fan.

Huh, I feel the KU games last year, getting bounced by MSU and Hampton in the tourney, and the Larry Eustachy story were bigger disappointing mbb days I've had.

Re: Rashad Vaughn - Announcing Tuesday

Matt's tweets should tell you all how crappy this went down in the past few months. I can't explain this enough. The staff has been gut punched big time.

This is the thing I'm having trouble with. I doubt Matt airs it out there like that if he feels like he got a fair shake. I also doubt he goes to the trouble of taking the air out of RV's decision unless there is some ill will there.

Or maybe not, who knows. Something about his tweets, and also those of the UM beat writer, make me wonder.

Re: Rashad Vaughn - Announcing Tuesday

Let's be honest, it will be a hell of a lot easier for a "one and done" player to look great in a ****** conference than in the Big 12. Seriously, I think that the thought of him having to play against elite talent night in and night out helped make his decision. If college isn't about improving or staying four years, then go where it's easy to improve your stock and jump ship, ie UNLV. It's not 1987 anymore, players want money and that want it when they're 18 years old. Playing Kansas might not have helped his stock, ask Marcus Smart!

Marcus Smart's stock was in great shape if he would have remained a one and done. Instead he decided to stick around and prove to everyone that he is animal crackers.

Re: Rashad Vaughn - Announcing Tuesday

My sources tell me Rashad listens to Nickleback. Did we really want this type of player on the team? :jimlad:

Really am disappointed about this one. Thought Fred/Matt were going to reel him in. Oh well, as has been stated next year's team is going to be really good (not to mention we still have 2 more months with the current team!!).

Good luck RV. I hope you watch SportsCenter highlights next year and wish you could have been apart of something special in Ames, Iowa.

Re: Rashad Vaughn - Announcing Tuesday

Anyone trying to solve this puzzle with the pros and cons of the two schools can only come to one ultimate conclusion. Some fans want to live in the land of sunshine, lollipops and rainbows, thus they don't want to face that truth.

Our coaches are good people, and I feel so sorry for them.

I don't think any of those happened in back to back days.

Re: Rashad Vaughn - Announcing Tuesday

I don't mean to rag on RV, but this decision, if it is UNLV, just says a lot about him as a basketball player IMO, and it's not positive.

It means he'd rather play in the glitz and glamour of Las Vegas for one year and not have to be concerned at all about school. It means he doesn't want to challenge himself against the best in the country or he would have gone to UNC, KU, or ISU. He will play absolutely NOBODY in that conference and not get challenged against good competition.

I can understand why a high school kid would want to play in Las Vegas. There's tons to do out there besides basketball. The weather is great too. And they probably will be good too, but who wouldn't in that conference?

This whole thing just kind of stinks when you really look at it. Even the prep school he goes to is just slimy as can be. But this is what college athletics has become. He probably won't have to even open up a text book at UNLV, just like at Findlay. It will only be about basketball, fame, and fortune.

Oh well. He missed out IMO, not us. He could have played for Fred Hoiberg, but he choose not to. He could have challenged himself against the best competition in the country, but he choose not to. That's his choice. Nobody will hear of him again until he's in the NBA because UNLV is NEVER on TV anywhere. Good luck to him. Time for Fred to move on and replace him.

Aw crap, I agree with clonedude.

Although I would say that judgment of his character should have been made when he left his home to go to Vegas to play for a prep school without a school.
