Re: Rashad Vaughn - Announcing Saturday

I haven't been following since he visited us because there was nothing more we could do to sway him.

Why is he announcing now vs April? Has he only visited us and UNLV?

Agreed. If he comes, great. If not, we'll still have time to fill his spot. It's better to find out sooner rather than later.

Re: Rashad Vaughn - Announcing Saturday

I thought the Baylor visit was postponed and never rescheduled?

Correct, Baylor was suppose to be the first official in the fall before basketball season (UNC originally too) then rescheduled and both canceled. RV's only officials were UNLV and ISU.
He had an unofficial's at UNC, U of M and of course ISU.

Whoa, Did I just added something that wasn't speculation? Sorry, carry on.

I agree that it is good to find out now and if he chooses UNLV then good luck. But just once it would be nice to land a recruit that you know could bring you to a different level. We are a legit Top 15 team this year without him and have a great shot at making a run in the tourney so...But man having him next year would just catapult this program and fan base to new highs.

Fred is taking this to the next level regardless of this decision .

So to recap...UNC is out, he's going to UNC, UNC is out, he is going to ISU, he's going to UNLV.

I could see UNC telling him if he is going to pick them then it's now or never. Only reason I see them as an option for this early commitment before an official.

UNLV as an option only if he wants to pad the stats and get #1 pick money, nobody watches their games and weaknesses are not as exposed since the level of comp is lower.

So here is how I see it going down. During the Delta Dental Smile-cam segment on Saturday, RV shows up on the video board, smiles, puts on an ISU hat and says "I'm comin' to Ames. RV...OUT!"

Muscle cam with ISU on one bicep and Hoiball on the other.

He's actually going to Katmandu. That's really, really where he's going to.

Re: Rashad Vaughn - Announcing Saturday

I was just responding to the dude that said he couldn't understand why anyone would ever go to UNLV. I thought that was a pretty ridiculous statement, and pointed out that Bennett got a little bit of exposure out in Vegas. Again, I agree with everyone here that he SHOULD come to ISU, as I think a really top talent could be unbelievably good in Fred's NBA-like system. But this blind criticism of our competition just makes our fans look silly. Case in point - you do realize how our last NBA draft pick is doing, right?

Exposure has nothing to do with draft position. If you play major D1 ball it doesn't matter if you're never on TV, the scout find you. The exposure is to start building marketing power and brand. And the MWC simply does not provide it.

One done type guys need to 1. Have a system and program where he can be utilized and showcase his talent and 2. the ability to start to build a following and marketing power in big time games. His highest profile game at UNLV in conference might be at the Pit. And no one outside the MWC will care or even notice.

Or, related to that potential visit, he might have asked himself if he really wanted to take another trip out there when he already knows who he wants to play for.
