So it looks like I'll need to get a new car. Was driving to Madison for a CLE today and slid out when I was on an overpass after getting gas and hit the wall of the over pass causing my airbags to go off. I don't think there's much damage to the car, but apparently my car is worth about $500-$1000 so they're going to total it. It's a shame, I absolutely loved that car.

I'm sure @CloneLawman knows but what's a CLE? Sorry about your car, hope your ok.

I think there's a lot of people needing repairs or new cars after this morning. I drove to work (5 miles on local roads) and saw at least 20 cars wrecked. It was like a ski slalom trying to avoid all of them.

Can you tell us about the case or do we have to wait for it to be over?

It’s over now. It was a personal injury case on its 2nd trial after a mistrial in August. There originally were two defendants, but the one that was mostly at fault for the accident and subsequent injuries settled before this one. Our defendant was going 30-35 down the right lane of a city street that had three lanes in both directions with a grass median in the middle. It was rush hour, and the two lanes to the left of him were stopped to leave the intersection open until they could proceed.

The defendant that had settled previously was going in the other direction, following google maps, and missed the sign that said she couldn't make a left from 4-6pm. She stopped in the median area prior to crossing the three lanes. The driver in the middle car didn't see the guy coming on their right and waved the person making the illegal left across. Neither of the defendants apparently saw each other (i don't know how) until it was too late. The defendant in this case was cruising in the right lane, clipped the person making the illegal left, traveled 85 feet, rear ended the plaintiff going about 25 mph, pushed her into the car in front of her, and that car into the next car, resulting in a four car pileup. Plaintiff has back problems now that don't sound terrible, but enough to require significant treatment and changes in her day-to-day life.

The judge was great. She was from LeMars and baked us banana bread. Came in and spent 20 mins answering questions that we weren't allowed to ask during the trial. It was a pretty interesting experience. We never had to sit in the box for a long stretch and it was cool to hear the testimony from the forensic accident people and the different doctors on the causes and treatments for back injuries. I would hate to be on a civil case where somebody was paralyzed or worse.

We ended up letting the remaining defendant off. I clearly agree with the verdict even though the guy wasn't being a responsible driver.

Not exactly sure.
She tries to put on a brave face but I can tell it's killing her deep down. This isn't new behavior....her dad has gone 20+ years not talking to his brothers.

I just wanna go all Mike Gundy....Come after me! I'm a man...I'm 30!
Gotta wait til you are 40 to use that line bud.

OH, and I was the only person out of 17 to raise my hand when they asked if anybody had preconceptions about personal injury lawyers. So I got to talk about it, and I was nice but dropped an ambulance chaser, and that I think it's funny when their pictures get defaced on the light rail, and I still got put on the six person jury

I don't suggest telling your daughter she was faking morning sickness for 9 months for attention.

Or that you aren't getting your flu shot like was requested because you read online it could weaken your immune system and you never get the flu anyways. Then double down and say you're fine missing baptism and holidays until next summer because he isn't going to know who you are and won't know the difference if you're around or skip it.

And make your son in law tell his wife this because you're too chicken **** to say it. And tell said SIL to tell his wife they do really love her.

My parents (2+ hours away) have been awesome offering to help but keeping their distance. My in laws (10 minutes away) suck.

I am almost breaking my own fingers restraining myself from the "helpful advice" rev's mom gave her before a baby shower.
"*****, please" would have been the only proper response.

What was the Woomobile? Hope you are ok.
It was a 2003 Acura, so it had so it had lived a good life. But it’s just a little sad because it was my dad’s car before mine so I had grown up with it. But yeah, I was fine. Just got bopped on the nose with the airbag.

Yeah, as lawman said it’s continuing legal education. It was going to be a day-long seminar on bankruptcy.

Yeah, the roads were really slick up here this morning. I heard from coworkers they also saw a lot of people off the road

Anybody else on season 7 of Letterkenny?

Only season 5. I have so many shows I’ve got to catch up on. Letterkenny, Schitt’s Creek, The Good Place. I once binged Mad Men but the last half season wasn’t on Netflix and when it finally came on, it had been so long I didn’t watch it, so I still haven’t seen the end of that show yet.

That’s my problem with binging shows. I always struggle to get back into them when new episodes become available.
