There's a YouTube clip of him doing a one handed slam at an event called the Lighthouse Classic. The bucket didn't count because they called a foul on the floor, but he can get up well enough. His best skills are definitely his handle and his passing. It looks like he has a solid shot as well. I wonder if we're the only school to offer all three players from team Thad.

Catching up in the thread, but at first my thought was this was a strategy to use our scholarship flexibility to offer all three guys the chance to play together, with the hope of landing the "star" in Fisher.

It's been interesting to read the banter here about you guys liking the other two in the package just as much. That's a great sign. Sure these are all HS seniors-to-be, but I like that Prohm is being aggressive out of the gate here. Hopefully we land some impact players with this strategy. Especially because I really doubt Monte is at ISU for his Senior season.

Am I the only one who couldn't care less if our PG can dunk or not? Fisher looks to be the real deal. I don't care if his vertical isn't as high as some others.

In my honest opinion, I think Prohm will be a better "coach" than Fred. What I mean by that is, he would get better results on the court if he had the same exact talent as Fred did on the court. Now, whether he can get the same level of talent or not remains to be seen.

But our team will be much more fundamentally sound on both ends of the court under Prohm IMO.

Our point guard dunking is very unimportant. Monte dunked, what, twice last year on breakaways? Who cares, as long as he can throw an alley-oop on a fast break.

John Stockton was a dunking machine.

I'd say Iowa and Michigan are closer culture-wise. The south is just different. That being said, "Winning Basketball" is a culture that can transcend north vs. south, urban vs. rural, etc.

Fisher looks to have a great feel for the game. Seems like a PG others would like to play with.

The correct answer is there's virtually nothing that Iowa has in common with Detroit or the South.

It is way to early to predict where the staff will ultimately target talent. Prohm is most familiar the South right now and due to his history knew of the "AAU three" thus he extended offers. A lot depends on the staff he assembles but I still assume ISU will target the same areas for the most part after year 1 and beyond. It is just easier to convince players to move to Ames from Iowa or adjacent states like Wisconsin, Minny, or Missouri, than getting players from the either coasts to come due to family/friends angles. In reality, the only teams that proximity to home doesn't affect as much are true blue bloods and they are going after 1-2 and done types anyways.
I'd expect there to be more interest in Kentucky/Tennessee/Ohio areas then previously because of Prohm connections and players being in those regions being familiar with Murray State and style of play.

Are we really concerned about cultural differences in recruiting players from the South?!!!! Go talk to Marcus Fizer, Stevie Johnson and Kantrail Horton. Go talk to half the football team.

Cultural differences? Seriously?

Martin Rancik? Georgios Tsalmpouris?

Cultural ******* differences?

And if we're specifically talking the South and basketball, Chris Babb and Tyrus McGee.

It's going to be interesting going up against the SEC in recruiting. I hope we can lure some of these kids up here Jaylen Fisher for sure if NN doesn't end up staying here.
