The illegal blindside block rule was implemented in high school last year, college this year, I believe.

if you blindside an opponent, you can only make contact with the hands extended -- not shoulder or any other body part.

I’m sorry, but that’s a recipe for the blocker getting hurt. These defenders are pursuing at full speed. Delivering a crackback block with just your arms to a 250 lb kid running full speed is flat out dangerous.
