It'd be awesome to get a commitment from Foster before next summer's AAU circuit. I don't think he's ever expressed plans of ending things early but all the visits to Ames in a short time period makes you think.

UCLA doesn't feel like a major threat and there hasn't been much buzz with Kansas since the offer over the summer. Feels like it's an in-state battle unless Duke offers and Iowa is going to have show drastic improvement for Fran to beat Prohm out with where things stand.

T-Day scouting notes involving a couple prospects ISU is in on.

MOST SKILLED - Jayden Stone
There are sound guards and then there is Jayden Stone, the next to emerge out of the Australian basketball system, and the top 50 guard showed off his entire repertoire on Saturday. Smooth, skilled and steady, Stone has put on the proper weight in recent months and used this added strength to produce within traffic more consistently, a prime example being his nine rebounds. Meanwhile, everything Stone does offensively is with a purpose. He can shoot from deep, score on soft floaters in the lane and also run high-ball screen actions. Auburn, Creighton, Iowa State, Tennessee and Vanderbilt are the five that were showing the most love to date, he told Rivals.com. In a day and age where versatile guards that can think the game and do so in an efficient manner has become of even greater importance, look for the Aussie native to become a much more talked-about name as his junior season begins.

MOST IMPROVED - Dudley Blackwell
If Eugene Brown was the top break out, then Dudley Blackwell wasn’t too far behind. The 6-foot-5 wing sports an uberly versatile skillset as he played on the ball in spurts and showed the ability to create his own offense but also that for others. Knocked in the past for his inability to consistently hit the 15-foot and out jumper, that shortcoming of his is no more. Blackwell nailed three 3-point attempts and also another out of the mid-range. He remains best served as a hard driver of the ball that can finish but also pass, though it was nice to see his offensive repertoire expanded upon. On the recruiting front, Florida, Iowa State and Ohio State are the three involved the greatest as the Cyclones could be the first to host the four-star for an official visit in the coming months.

A man amongst boys: If there was anyone in Atlanta this weekend that was prepared for a dog fight then it had to be Somerset Academy (FL) wing Dudley Blackwell. He’s a mean spirited driver that’s not going to wait for you to throw the first shoulder of any contest. Every bounce was aggressive as he threw his body into defenders that would have to brace for his bone crushing contact. His ability to rebound and defend in the paint isnt lost on me or the high major programs that have thrown their hat in the ring. Florida, Iowa State, Oklahoma State and Florida Gulf Coast are all said to have offered the Florida prospect in a what could be a battle down the stretch. It's more than fitting given Blackwell's upside

Question for the bball recruiting gurus. With the early success the freshman class is having does that help us with other Chicago/Illinois kids? Especially after the w vs the illini win on Maui?

I would figure it is at least nice evidence to say...

"I play freshmen."

"I get freshmen ready to play early."

"Don't you want to play with those guys?"

"Nick and Marial are great, but they're gone next year, PT is opening up."

I haven't seen ISU associated with many Illinois recruits in 2020. Early offers have been to Florida and Wisconsin talent along with Carleson, Terry and Foster. I would assume the Milwaukee connections (legacy Burton, McKay, Thomas, new Lewis and Haliburton) could help there with WI prospects.

Update with N'Faly Dante on his unofficial visits.

https://basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/five-star-junior-n-faly-dante-talks-visits

EB: You have taken some unofficial visits. You went out to Oregon how was that?
ND: It was cool. When I watched workouts and practice, everybody was going really hard. Their coaches think I could fit in with that.
EB: You went down to LSU, what stood out about that visit?
ND: It was good too. Like when I went there all of the players was going hard and they were cool with me and everything and made me feel good that I came down there.
EB: You have been up to Kansas a few times and were most recently up there for Late Night in the Phog. How was that?
ND: I think that was my third time up there. I didn’t get to watch their actual practice, so I don’t know about that. But the gym was packed and everybody was screaming. Their fans were going really hard and that was good stuff.
EB: Then you also went to Iowa State during the fall. How was that? Had you been up there before?
ND: Yeah, I was living up there in Iowa during the summer. So I know a lot about the school. It was a good unofficial visit.

Another Q&A with an ISU prospect Jayden Stone 6'3" SG.

https://basketballrecruiting.rivals...of-four-star-jayden-stone-is-picking-up-steam

CE: Your recruitment has really picked up of late so who are the ones in the most frequent contact with you?

JS: Vanderbilt, they have been everyday with me, morning, noon and night. Auburn, of course, Creighton, Iowa State and Tennessee, they all stay in contact with me the most often. I am still maturing and just honing my skills and seeing if I will grow anymore but the rest I just leave up to God.

CE: Iowa State is a bit different but they have remained in heavy contact with you. What are your feelings there?

JS: I like Iowa State. They see me as a guy that can do a lot as a combo guard and hopefully, I can make an impact wherever I go. They tell me to keep honing my guard skills so that I can switch either as a 2, off of the ball, or be on the ball, too.

It's crazy the level of talent we are in on in the 2020 class. It's almost too bad they are all 2020 as opposed to 2019, especially if we lose 2-3 guys to the NBA at the end of the year.

My Dream Scenario:

(1) Lindell and THT play so well the last three months of the season that they both head to the NBA as first round draft picks and we win the NCAA tournament;
(3) Lard plays great too, but he gets NBA pre-draft feedback to work on post move footwork and face up jumper range/consistency, such that he returns for the 2019-20 season;
(2) Two of these top 50 2020 guys reclassify to 2019 and we sign them both (as we now have spots available and just won the title);
(3) We sign 2-3 more of these top 50 guys for the 2020 class;
(4) Lard and one of the reclassified 2019/20 guys play so well (suggesting we as a result do well) that they both are 1st round draft picks in the next NBA draft;
(5) Repeat cycle of getting 1st round draft pick talent for 1-2 years each year;
(6) Prohm sees the opportunity to be Mark Few-like and build his own, new dynasty as better than being part of a legacy dynasty and stays for 15+ years eventually hiring Georges/Naz/Monte on his stafff;
(7) One of Georges/Naz/Monte takes over when Prohm retires.

Man, that was some good Kool-aid.

That is a rosey scenario and would take it in a second.

I don't know if we need to worry about any 2020 moving up to 2019 though. The impact of the current freshman class has been better than expected already. I would think Haliburton, Conditt, and Griffin ready for major roles next year.

ISU would be in a great position to add a top Grad Transfer/JuCo prospect if both THT and Lindell do go pro. Prohm would be able to sell his ability to get guards to the NBA in a short time and there would be playing time available.

There is a possibility that Leech is fully recovered from his injury, two years removed, and comes in playing as the 5 Star rating he had early in his career. Ultimate wild card prospect who could impact like Lindell or Talen had from day 1. I also think Luke Anderson is fairly polished for an 18 year old and should be able to play early. We'll see with Tre Jackson but, Prohm's track record with guards producing is very good.

I have a simpler one:
1. Everyone does fantastic, but decide to return anyway.
2. We have another big class in 2020
3. The end.
