Guys, if you don't want to look like you're stuck in 2010, say stretch 5, not stretch 4. :)

A couple of things:

1.) There will be attrition.
2.) Tyler Harris is a top 70 recruit and a stone cold killa! I WANT this kid rocking Hilton with shots and confidence like that.
3.) Prohm has thrived with guards who can score with the best of them. Harris, Wigginton and THT are all big time scorers.
4.) People calling for a stretch four...Georges Niang 2.0 is not going to fall into our laps. You don't pass on a special player in hopes of what might be out there on the transfer market. The transfer thing didn't work out too well this spring for us.
We’ll see about Harris.

Good grief. There is a huge gap between talking about getting a stretch four that can help next year and Georges 2.0. No player is going to fall in our laps. Regroup and try again.

I envision lack of a stretch 4 being one potential roster hole for next year with the only additions at that position being Jacobson and freshmen. I expect Jacobson to be more of a guy who gives us toughness minutes off the bench and mostly rebounds and cleans up around the hoop but we'll see if his shot has improved enough to be a legitimate threat. Hopefully Zion can grow into that small forward who can stretch the floor and contribute a little there next year. I think if we do end up having an open spot we'll pursue Harris before we end up looking at JuCo or grad transfers.

Using traditional descriptors for positions is no longer as applicable as it once was. You get the best players you can and find ways to maximize their abilities on offense/defense. But, if people still want to pigeonhole a player into a "stretch 4" position, I think Griffith fits the bill. He reportedly has a great 3-pt shot and is physically ready for the Big XII. Remember he has primarily been a low-post player in high school until recently.

We have stretch fours on the way in the form of Jacobsen, Griffin and Conditt Jr. They provide different skillsets. Some on here are suggesting we pass on Harris and hold out for a "stretch four man". That is utterly ridiculous. You don't pass on Tyler Harris. Period. Good grief!

No, I actually think literally everyone is in agreement that if we end up with an open scholarship and Harris is available, he is the #1 target. Like you said, cannot pass on a consensus top 75 point guard like that if he's interested in ISU.

Talley shouldn't be disregarded as a stretch PF possibility if he can develop his outside shot over this next year. I know he hasn't shown yet, but it appeared that was part of the staff's plan for him.

That would be big if he could just get good enough to make their bigs come out to guard him, as the lethal part of that would be in taking them off the dribble.

I tend to agree with #4. Georges was one of a kind. We were lucky enough to have Deonte follow him, but we're not always going to find that kind of guy (and you can't just take a big guy who can dribble a little bit and turn him into that).

You can't call something consensus when you leave out a data point just because it doesn't fit your narrative.

Sigh, this has been debated relentlessly. I'll clarify that Rivals and 247 have him as a top 76 player. It's not pushing a narrative... I consistently don't believe ESPN recruiting rankings are worth paying attention to. I don't put much stock into ESPN having Terrence Lewis as the #61 player in the country last year.

Way up there
I believe it was Zion Griffin's coach or someone close to him at one point tweeted or responded to a tweet about the Griffin/Burton comparison. His comment was basically saying that the Burton role was exactly what the ISU staff sold to Griffin during his recruiting. That said, the program at the moment looks to have a little more or a traditional feel to it than the Hoiball years.

What are the 5 ratings?
KXNO was reviewing it today. I'll see if I can get the link.

As of 2009, the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) recognizes the All-America teams selected by the AP, AFCA, FWAA, Sporting News, and the WCFF to determine consensus All-Americans. If three of these organizations select a player to their first team, he automatically receives the "consensus" honor. If a player is named an All-American by all five organizations, he receives "unanimous All-America" recognition.
