I would love to quote all of you on the first two pages of this thread, but that would take too long.
I just want to say it's great to see so many aspiring coaches who can see how bad the play calling was and how bad the team was.
This is a good team. TTU had the right game plan, and I for one think we can beat TCU next week. Go clones!
I'm with you. But the coaches and players on the O side need to step up a lot more and the D needs to keep plugging away like tonight. We get even more out of the O and we could win a lot of games yet this year.

You are nuts to not consider Sage and Seneca to be really good QB's. Name a really good QB that had less talent around them than those two?

I'm sorry, but if you have more INT's than TD's and have less than 60% completion percentage, you aren't a really good QB.

And with that I'm off to bed, way too drunk from this loss.

They lose, I booze!

Jantz wasn't the only reason for the loss, but he had some really bad plays with little explanation. The game was over when he literally dropped the ball. I've used the phrase dropped the ball as a metaphor, but Jantz literally dropped the ball tonight. But again, he wasn't the only reason for the loss.

Messingham isn't the only reason for the loss, but how do you not give your struggling quarterback some easy completions via bubble screens when the passing game looks awful? You see what's going on out there, and your quarterback is clearly not comfortable with what's happening. Throw him a bone with an easy play that can build his confidence in his accuracy. 3 passing yards in the first half? Unbelievable.

The offensive line isn't the only reason for the loss, but you have to adjust to what happens on the field. The offensive line was outsmarted, and Steele had few options as a result.

Those are the three problems I noticed. Overall, I'm not going to freak out about this game. It was a bad game offensively. Nothing went right. We've seen better, and Steele, Mess, and the whole team will learn from it. If a trend appears, we're in trouble. In the mean time, TCU is a very beatable team, and I'm looking forward to Steele making this thread look like a bunch of drunken ******** in a week.

The next time Iowa State has a "really good" QB, will be the first one. Sage relied on a good running game. Seneca relied on some type of magic that disappeared in his last season. Flynn was... a WR. Meyer was average at best. Arnaud was Meyer at best. Tiller was... a WR. Jantz is either really good or realllly bad. Barnett can run, but can't pass. We've had some good game managers and leaders at QB, but never a really good QB.

Couple of guys who got drafted(something fairly rare for ISU) and have had fairly successful NFL careers. Yet somehow they weren't good?

Last year I was totally convinced that with Steele Kantz at qb we would have NOT made a bowl game and WE would have LOST to both Tx Tech and Okie State.

If Steele Kantz keeps playing like this we are looking at a Six game Losing Streak and their goes the season. Again

Defense wins championships... but not when you have Steele Jantz as your starting QB... and Jared Barnett as your backup. SMH were screwed. It's time to start Sam Richardson, or Grant Rohach, or find a way to make Joel Lanning eligible to play right now.

Lanning is a very good football player. I dont think he will ever take a snap at qb in a D1 game though.

Ok I slept on what happened last night and I feel worse this morning about it than last night. Im tired of everyone saying how bad the whole O was. DOSENT MATTER. Steele was lost and couldnt hit an open receiver, AN OPEN RECEIVER. No neither could I but I wasnt brought in to play qb. It wasnt like he didnt see them either, he threw to them. Wasnt like the deep route tough to hit man in stride, it was short routes! 73 yard 73 YARDS OF PASSING! WTF WTF WTF! Yes it one bad game, oh wait not one bad game, there was one good against a cupcake team. I was behind CPR when he decided jantz but he did preface that with a we will revisit if there is issues. WELL THERE ARE ISSUES REVISIT. Sorry jantz and thanks but I thought your ceiling was higher, its not, now that your trying to game manage instead of improvise big plays, you're really outside your element and still making the same mistakes. MAKE a CHANGE IT CANT GO ANY WORSE.

SJ must have injured his foot again. That was the reason he was terrible last year so that must be the reason this year, right?

Yes there are many things that went wrong on offense. BUT, There is one thing and one thing only that should be pointed out for blame... IF YOU ARE A D1, repeat D1... QB, you better for the love of god NOT drop a football! Hooooooooly $:/t batman! Are you kidding me!? You can't do that!?!? I don't care if your joe $-&#^*# Montana. Go play for drake! I'd rather have a right handed qb with no right arm, if he can hold onto it with his left I consider him better then Steele Jantz. Winning people, that's the goal! That's why coaches get paid millions a year, not to defend their players and say, don't blame Steele. Do your job and yank him! Never should have stepped back on the field after that kind of mistake, ever! And don't tell me "but he makes some great plays" because when you DROP the football...that erases every hailmary flea flicking diving touchdown catch spectacular play that you have ever made!!! Us fans pay good money for seasons tickets to win or at least do things to give us a damn chance. Oh and the play calling you say???.... No play calling in the history of football will work when your QUARTERBACK drops the football!!! Drop? Really? Realllllly?! Mind blowing!

Sincerely,
One p*$$*d off fan that thinks Steele Jantz should never play another game at ISU.

You do not drag ISU to a bowl game with that type of surrounding talent, get drafted, or spend that long in the NFL if you are not really good. It is more plausible they could have been great if in a better environment.

After reading 10 pages of this juvenile, black and gold, toothless, Hamms beer swilling BS....I had to click back to the home page to make sure I wasn't forwarded to HN. Wow. Maybe we should start an official "....... needs to be benched" thread after every loss, so CPR can jump on line right after a game, click to CF to find out exactly who and what it will take to run the table and win it all.

Can we at least stop saying he's got a little Farve in his game? More Rex Grossman or Dave Kreig.

Any poster that wants Jantz benched doesn't understand football or understand that he is our best option at the moment.

EXACTLY!!!! Unless you have a backup that has a proven ability to win a big game like the OSU game last year.....oh wait. Who was the QB that game? Huh. To say anyone who wants a change doesn't know ball is a stretch. Jantz has made it fair game for debate

Jantz was bad, but...

The OL was horrible tonight.
The play calling has been horrible all season.
The offensive scheme has been horrible not just all season, and not just under CPR's tenure, but for as long as I can remember.

Jantz was bad tonight, but I don't think another QB does any better.

Disagree. Herman was good at keeping players out of situations that they couldn't handle, which is an important part of scheming. We're about to see how good Herman was at this if we insist on playing the turnover machine.
