From ESPN
Richardson is an athletic pocket passer that is flying under the radar as a quality passer with a cool demeanor and upside to develop both his frame and physical tools. He has a calm swagger about him, a live arm and a fluid release. Has adequate height and a lean...

Hell yes, Herman is going to work this guy into a machine. From his highlight video this kid can already make college throws. I am impressed.

This kid would thrive in Herman's offense.

Agree with this at least from what he showed in the highlights. He appears to be able to make all of the plays that Herman wants to see in a QB - good pocket presence, able to throw on the run, good release on the deep ball, accurate on short throws, arm strength for out routes, able to run the zone read, etc.

What you can't determine by tape are the intangibles such as leadership, decision making, toughness, etc. The staff seems to be demonstrating the ability to make the right calls in these areas so I have to assume that they are satisfied if he is their top target.

This is ridiculous. I mean why hasn't he been recruited by different schools? Great athlete. It just seems too good to be true. I realize there is a long time before he gets on the field in cyclone colors, but is it just me or are our recruits getting better and better.

Just from watching the video, he looks like a bigger Chase Daniel to me.
He looks like he can throw it, and hurt people with his feet even tough he may not be a burner.

nice short quick release, question would be arm strength. Floated a lot of passes to wide open receivers, 20+ yards down field. Nothing that getting stronger won't fix. Looks like a very bright future.

When it was posted about Sam Richardson the DB commit, I happened to see the highlight of Sam Richardson the QB commit.

Pretty impressive. Both Sam Richardson the QB and Sam Richardson the CB look like playmakers. Pretty good commits.

Agreed. Although, he's got touch, which is MUCH harder to 'teach'. AA has a powerful arm, but his weakness is touch passes.

This kid has great pocket presence, stands very tall and doesnt panic. I also like that he is running the spread in high school, which will only quicken the learning curve at ISU.

Sam Richardson of Winter Park comes in at No. 3, and after posting a 16-3 record in 19 games as a starter, has proved he knows how to win and lead. The way he picked apart all comers at the USF Sling&Shoot 7-on-7 passing tournament last month was quite impressive.

Sure the Winter Park entry swept through the tournament as 7-0 champions, but more impressive was watching Richardson throw all over the field to all of his receivers. The timing was perfect with every receiver and Richardson always seemed to know where his outlet was.

This would be a great upgrade for us at the qb position.

From what I can tell from the video he looks to have good arm strength and a nice compact release. Really more polished than you would expect from a junior video - I suspect he's has some quality coaching and teaching already. Really like how he moves in and out of the pocket and had good overall mobility. Seems to have great touch as well.

I am a bit puzzled as to why he doesn't have more offers but I guess I LIKE that. Maybe he's not quite ideal size for a pocket passer but I don't even know why people stress that so much with so many great QBs in the six-foot club. I think he's a steal.

I hope it sticks because from watching that, I could see one of the big dogs come sniffing around if they lose a signing day 'hat trick' or something.

I'm no QB expert, but here is what I saw.

I noticed him floating passes across the middle which in D-1 will get his receivers killed. I'm sure that can be corrected. He seemed able to make all of the throws. I was concerned at the beginning of the video as the first 3 throws he didn't set his feet at all and was actually hopping on a couple of the throws but he looked good with footwork on throws from then on.

I really liked that unlike many HS QB's when he decides to pull it down and run he appears to do a great job of protecting the ball. Even when he is in open field or making a cut he has it tucked like a tailback. It's often the man you don't see that knocks it loose.

Since there are a lot of numbers repeated on a roster maybe he could share a number with the other Sam Richardson.
