I actually go by McCHUD

Good call. I've noticed that you are clever as all get out. Would you say that you owe your style of humor more to Jim Varney or Kathy Griffin? Either way, you're just a consummate entertainer. I celebrate every single one of your posts.

I'm going to take this as serious due to no pirate and file it under "I really am awesome"

This thread isn't about McDermott. It's about incessant whining. If you'd like to create a another thread about hating McDermott, I'd be glad to PM a mod and have them close it.

I'm glad you have that type of relationship with the mods. You must be a very important person.

The only reason I ask about McDermott, even though you are correct about what the content of this thread pertains to, is because the two are obvious connected - this thread and the general feeling about McDermott.

Moreover, your sig line really makes me even more curious as to your feelings about McDermott, because it basically says that just because you ignore something, doesn't necessarily take away from its actual existence as a fact.

Now, the people that blindly ignore McDermott's performance are clearly missing some of the facts. Just as the people in this thread that are blindly ignoring people's opinions are missing the fact that they have the right to start threads voicing those opinions. This message board allows people to do that, and the minute that it takes away those priviledges is the minute that this site loses validity and credibility.

Let me follow that post up by saying that I do think some of threads are a little unneccessary, but that doesn't mean that they aren't valid. This message board allows people to do that.

Also, nowhere have the mods said they would take away priviledges for starting threads, but it certainly appears that they aren't opposed to that idea.

My feelings toward Mac are mixed. Of course I am frustrated. Who wouldn't be? However, I'm not ready to jump off of a cliff after 1 week of bad games. Is CF a place where people ought to be able to voice their opinions? Of course. But, the meltdowns that have been seen here in the last week are overkill. People get shouted down by the haters for even voicing slight support for Mac. That's kind of thing drives people away.

Great post. I ran out of rep today, but this really, really deserves some recognition.

Speaking of "overkill?" This word has been used to label almost anyone who objects to or questions the performance of the the Cyclones. It's a primitive, simplistic attack on posters.

You mean like "blind follower"?

...And people untrained in basketball at a collegiate level (being a simple fan doesn't count) making uninformed, sweeping generalizations provides a primitive, simplistic counterpoint. The usage of "haters" is simply a widely-used term of slang - making comments about someone's son, questioning their dedication to their job, calling crappy nicknames, and more is much more harmful. There's constructive criticism (which the board encourages), and then there is what is being addressed here.

I assume that to mean that you're aware there are an equal # of people making "uninformed, sweeping generalizations" on both sides?
Almost every poster here, regardless of their opinion, is "untrained in basketball at a collegiate level."

And there's a difference between commenting on the game and making personal comments at McDermott and his family. You fail to be able to refute that.

Yes, I agree, "blind follower" is just like "hater." They're used to personally attack and dismiss posters and to attach a motive beyond the content of their posts. In the spirit of the topic of this thread, I wish both terms were banned, for the sake of reducing negativity.

I wish, in the spirit of this thread, people would be able to not say those things or their own doing, and have more civil discussions. I get sucked into it as much as anyone, and am not proud of it.

We do need a better nickname for McDermott.

How about Coach or GMac or the like? I really don't get how belittling our OWN coach serves us well?

When we see and understand Basketball is a business not a extra curriculum we will understand that McD is not fit to coach this program. After 3 years of supporting him and knowing that year 4 his players will be here, this is a epic failure. I cant support an Athletic Department that cant move ahead. McD did great at UNI and maybe its the talent level at UNI that made him look good, with the lack of talent in the MVC. YES there is talent there. Maybe its the fact that one player on UNI helped him look good, Sorry cant think of the player at this time it started with a "B". Lots of issues opened up this can of worms. I saw not motivation, dedication, or agressiveness in teh players. The coach should make them excited to play for the full game, not for the first 5 minutes. Standin around like you have no knowledge of what to do is a coaching issue not a players issue. I hope McD turns this around before the Big12 games start. If not I believe we need a change of coaching. I am not pleased with the production of the MBB and I cant see paying higher ticket prices when we cant even get to a NIT. As for right now...I am embarresed and displeased with the coaching staff.

IF someone can tell me what has happened right in the past 4 years...Please let me know. I cant see nothing but a stagnant and dissapointing coaching staff.
