I don't believe that Melvin has a problem with T's though. Wednesday's was dumb. I admit that. But what he got called for on Saturday was absolute garbage. I don't blame him for that at all.

While watching the replay I could see why the official called it, but I don't think it was deserved by any means. He was barking something while sizing up his opponent as his opponent came toward him to the other end of the floor. If he would have done a less basketball sound thing like many NCAA players do now - ignore his defensive responsibilities while he showboats and celebrates his play - he probably wouldn't have gotten T'd up.
Melvin's T wasn't the problem. Missed FT's (especially the front end of 1 and 1's), missed layups and missed 3s had a lot more to do with the loss than that even if he did end up sitting out of the game for a total of 5 whole minutes of the game.
I was madder at Mel for picking up a stupid foul trying to deny at the rim for his fourth than I was about the T.

The tech at KSU was bogus. They gave Weber a lot of bench warnings and he kept ignoring them and he didn't get t'd up.
Yeah, I mentioned that to my buddy when they stopped play to warn Weber. Either it isn't aggregious enough to stop play for a warning (i.e. it can wait for a stoppage of play) or it is bad enough for a technical. You don't stop play for a warning to the bench. Stopping play - or at least stopping action before the ball is live for two sided rough play in the post (like jockeying for position on an inbounds play or before a free throw) - okay - but not for the bench.
Any officials on here want to comment on how they handle this?
This, exactly. The T in the WVU game was deserved. He had been protesting every call and I was not one bit surprised to see him get that T. Hard to argue with.
The KSU one was ridiculous. There is no clear definition of what gets you a technical in terms of trash talking. One that comes to mind was that Spangler guy blocking Monte down in Norman. He blocked Monte's shot, yelled at him, flexed and took a few steps towards Monte. That didn't get called, but saying something like "gimme that" when you hit a three does. Or look at Mick Cronin. I know it's different between a coach and a player, but he threw a freaking fit and got in an officials face and didn't get a T.
I wouldn't want Ejim to play any different. Some of the whining about calls is a bit much, but I can see the frustration in finally working your way to being a top-notch Big 12 player and not getting the same treatment as the likes of Marcus Smart.
I have to admit I would like to see a lot less whining to the officials across the board from ISU players. Take a cue from Fred. If you don't complain about everything, it carries a lot more weight when you do complain. On top of that, Fred can get away with a lot more complaining to the zebras than the players can. An example of a better way to get your point across is while calmly walking to the lane to rebound FT's is to mention to the official to watch for your opponent trapping your arm and then turning so it appear that you are reaching in from behind. Officials will generally react more favorably to a suggestion on something that is happening to watch for than a complaint about a call that they have already made.
It's been said. First one was deserved, second one was silly. If you are being critical because he has had two t's in two games, then perhaps realize that one was bogus.
I actually think we've seen that carried out with Kane. At some point, I think he got a reputation for being not necessarily a flopper but a flailer, where he would drive the lane, fall down and look for a call. Unfortunately, I think it is caused him to not get a call on many legitimate fouls.
Thats the thing. They have done that but continue to be abused down low. They difference between what our guys get away with and our opponents get away with is amazing. If you were to just see one game I would understand but if you have watched the whole season they started out by doing this type of stuff more but at this point they are frustrated enough they don't

A ref could T Melvin due to assuming his congratulatory "nice move" was taunting and there would be people on ere thinking Melvin needs to be smarter and needs to to control it.
Not trolling at all, but don't some of you find it ironic that he was awarded your CLASS award while flipping off the crowd, always talking trash and getting t'd up frequently? That would be akin to awarding Fran an award for most mild mannered coach. Now....commence bashing.
Simply look at what he does off the court.
Also, nothing he has done on the court has been all that bad. Lost his temper once, got a BS tech against KSU, and the other was a questionable rim hanging tech.
Look at his unprompted apology after the BYU game and that is as good of a reason for him to get the award as any.
