If Mizzou wants to play in the SEC next season as Orangbloods alluds to, that would leave BYU as the only choice to fill that void. Louisville, WV and Cincy are all tied up with the Big East. Tulane would also fit the bill.

No way on UConn, IMO. My friends who went to the game said they were some of the worst fans they'd ever encountered, and the atmosphere was crap. Plus, it's a gigantic geographic outlier that delivers a smaller market than Cincy and no new recruiting territory. Cincy plays in an on-campus stadium that has some actual history, and it's an easy drive from here.

I can back your friends up; I was there, too, and UConn fans are THE worst I've ever seen, no joke. I was asked "wait, you're not the Hawkeyes?" three separate times, bumped into maybe two fans who weren't 19 year old punks cursing up a storm, and saw more drunk guys puke and fight each other than on a Jersey Shore episode. The losers cleared out of the stadium when ISU got the ball with 1:30 left, thinking the game was over. Rather than real fans, they're just a bunch of townies from Hartford who have nothing better to do on the weekend than get drunk at the football game and act like creeps.

I wouldn't wish these "fans" upon anyone; they're hands-down the most ignorant and classless I've ever encountered.

That's why they had thousands on BCS tickets left over.

Not necessarily. Everything is always negotiable (like how we let CU leave a year early last year) , plus with that many teams leaving, the football members could possibly just vote to dissolve the big east football conference. As i recall they are technically separate entities.

And as for tulane:

Sample schedule with 3 team pods. Each team has protected rivals in each of the other pods that they play the year they don't play that pod. That way, OU and UT always play each other. The protected rivals are based on the the computer ratings of the teams in your pod so that #1's play each other over the next 6 years, #2's play each other and #3's play each other. (I didn't attempt to look at any computer ratings, so the below are guesses.)

Team
Year 1
Year 3
Year 5
(Switch in even years)

North
Iowa State
@KU, KSU, Cen, Sou, @Cin
@KU, KSU, East, Cen, @TTU
@KU, KSU, Sou, East, @Bay

(ISU would always play KU, KSU, Cin, TTU and Baylor every year and rest of teams every 4 out of 6 years.)

Kansas
ISU,@KSU, Cen, Sou, @Lville
ISU, @KSU, East, Cen, @TCU
ISU, @KSU, Sou, East, @OSU

Kansas State
@ISU,KU, Cen, Sou, @WVU
@ISU, KU, East, Cen, @Texas
@ISU, KU, Sou, East, @OU

Central
Baylor
@OU, OSU, Nor, East, @TTU
@OU, OSU, Sou, Nor, @Cin
@OU, OSU, Sou, East, ISU

Oklahoma
Bay, @OSU, Nor, East, @Texas
Bay, @OSU, Sou, Nor, @WVU
Bay, @OSU, Sou, East, KSU

Oklahoma State
@Bay, OU, Nor, East, @TCU
@Bay, OU, Sou, Nor, @Lville
@Bay, OU, Sou, East, KU

South
Texas
@TCU, TT, Nor, East, OU
@TCU, TT, Cen, East, KSU
@TCU, TT, Nor, Cen, @WVU

Texas Christian
UT, @TT, Nor, East, OSU
UT, @TT, Cen, East, KU
UT, @TT, Nor, Cen, @Lville

Texas Tech
@UT, TCU, Nor, East, Bay
@UT, TCU, Cen, East, ISU
@UT, TCU, Nor, Cen, @Cin

East
Cincinnati
@Lville, WVU, Cen, Sou, ISU
@Lville, WVU, Sou, Nor, Bay
@Lville, WVU, Nor, Cen, TT

Louisville
Cin, @WVU, Cen, Sou, KU
Cin, @WVU, Sou, Nor, OSU
Cin, @WVU, Nor, Cen, TCU

West Virginia
@Cin, Lville, Cen, Sou, KSU
@Cin, Lville, Cen, Sou, OU
@Cin, Lville, Nor, Cen, UT

WTF?

You might as well post the most recent Family Circus or Calvin and Hobbs comic strip and pretend like it means something about the future.

You can deny it all you want, but certain twitter posters have been plenty reliable.

The minute MU leaves the B12, I hope the B12 comes out with a statement relocating the bball tournament next year and doesn't schedule any more games inside the boarders of Missouri.

That's right, let's punish Kansas City for something that's not even their fault... :wacko:

And when they've openly said to Mizzou "dont do this, this would be bad for your state". Never mind that moving the tourney would also be bad for ISU, KU, and KSU as well.

I want to know how many of the fans writing into the curators to force their hand are willing to travel to Atlanta for the BB tourney or willing to ever travel to 1 away game when their closest game will be 8 hours away.

Well Arkansas is probably only 2 hours away. But your point remains.

Is there ONE other conference that plays their bball tournament in a state that is not a member, let alone a member that just left? Move it to Kansas, Iowa, or anyplace else. Heck, have it on a rotation. Just not in Missouri. If Missouri doesn't need the B12, we don't need them. Des Moines would sure like to have the B12 tournament there.

Just because its in the missouri state borders doesnt mean that that area wont still be firmly within the big 12 footprint. The university of missouri isnt all there is to that state. Plenty of ISU\KU\KSU fans and alums in that city.

5 largest out-of-state Mizzou Alumni Associations (in order):

Chicago Alumni Chapter
Washington D.C. Alumni Chapter
Dallas/Ft. Worth Mizzou Tigers
LA/Orange County Alumni Chapter
Rocky Mountain Tigers (Denver)

Not one is even close to the SEC's footprint (Texas is not, and never will be "SEC country")

As if any of that really matters.

Basically, you would make a city that has been nothing but loyal to the Big 12 despite getting shaft after shaft from Texas take yet another shaft just because of one school's idiocy. Brilliant. Glad you're not a decision-maker in this conference.
