TL has got to start knocking down the long ball or he'll be at the end of the bench real quick. That's something we need desperately and I had hoped he would get it figured out this year but it hasn't looked good early and he's running out of time to show he belongs in the rotation with the other 4 guys coming back within the next month/month and a half.

he never looks comfortable

after watching jacobsen play i really like his game and THT gets to the rim in a hurry from half court, so when
lindell, lard, young and talley all come back how is coach going to use the rotation because i think tyrese has earned alot minutes also because he is a very good defender and active hands

babb, lindell, THT, shayok and jacobsen starting? or can he go babb lindell shayok lard and jacobsen at the 4

it will be interesting on what he will rotate

I think it'll depend on matchups out the gate. He'll be able to run big or small. Good problem to have.

Regardless of starting lineups, this is the most versatile ISU team we've had in years. We can actually play big or small. We don't have the shooters we have had in previous years, but definitely are not weak in that category. We may have to facilitate the offense from the interior at times which should open up the 3 ball. Wiggington, Babb and THT can all dribble drive to dish to Jacobson or Shayok. Really fun times ahead.

I think we will play 8-9 guys for the rest of the year. We also have to remember that we will be playing the hot hand as well, which if you have 8-9 guys to pick from, your chances of finding a hot hand for the night just gets easier.

As of right now, I think Wigginton slides in for Halliburton and that's the only change. Everybody else will need to show a helluva lot off the bench to take a starting spot. Lineups will obviously vary and the flexibility will be welcomed. As always, it's more important who ends the game than who starts it.

Sorry Cameron, but you lost a lot of trust and blew a lot of opportunities over the past year and Michael is playing really well. You are going to have to earn your spot back.

I trust Solomon and Haliburton as team guys to embrace their bench roles.

Talley will get minutes if he plays like the end of last year.

I think he's been the biggest reason we've been good defensively. He can either switch or hard hedge ball screens up top and stay with guards. That's huge.

Really, really good point. That flustered everyone we played, and led to either forced shots or one on one moves in a lot of possessions. Even Arizona took a lot of bad shots. They just happened to make a bunch of them.

Here's what I'd like to see....

PG-Wiggi
SG-THT
SF-Shayok
PF-Jacobsen
C-Lard

NWB is the energy/effort/hustle/lock down defender type of 6th man off the bench. Solo in a similar role of energy/effort/hustle for Lard or Jacobsen. Talley takes the minutes that were going to Griffin/Lewis. Haliburton takes the biggest back seat once everyone is healthy. Condit isn't seen much at all unless Lard/Jaco/Solo get in foul trouble.

I figured last year would prove it, and for the remaining doubters the last two games and Mizzou would do it, but I guess not. In the past two seasons ISU has played exactly one impressive game when someone other than NWB was the PG, and that was the WVU game when Talley would inbound, get it back, and destroy the press. Again, things can change, but they would have to change drastically for Wigginton to be our best option at PG. He's a great player, but he's yet to show he can be a PG that makes an offense go. NWB is starting if healthy, period.

And Haliburton is going to still get big minutes. He's played so many minutes because the team plays really well when he's on the floor.

Seems like it would be the opposing team's worst nightmare to see two talented high-energy guys like Halliburton and Lard come off the bench at the same time and just go nuts, especially on the defensive end and running in transition. A fair number of the teams we play won't have players of quite that impact at 6 and 7 either, so if they sub at the same time, watch out.

I don't think Lard starts right away when he comes back, and I'm not sure we see a lot of Talley anyways. Young probably comes off the bench due to injury problems and not really being better than some of these guys. I think Zion and Conditt drop out and hopefully are eligible for redshirts.

Having too many good players is always a concern I'm fine with though, because right now we have Wigginton, THT, NWB, shayok, Jacobson, Lard, Young and Halliburton who are all capable starters, and it's probably the 8 of them plus Lewis and Talley who are our main rotation. some P5 teams are lucky to even have 2. Prohm really restocked fast here.

It's going to be either Jacobsen or THT as the 6th man. Both deserve to start but in my uneducated opinion I think it would work out better if THT is the one coming off the bench.

THT can sub in for Babb, Wiggy, or MS and we don't really lose anything offensively. After a few mins Sub him in early, keep rotating in the sub players. Keeps everyone fresh and we have constant flow of offensive threats.

Anyone who still thinks Jacobsen doesn’t start the rest of the year is crazy.

It's looking that way. When Lard and Solo return, Jacobson's overall minutes will drop a little, because he won't HAVE to play as much (as other players' time will be reduced w/ Wiggi and Talley coming back).

Based on the posts so far, one point of speculation is, are both Jacobson and Lard in the starting lineup on a regular basis?
