Side note. Thanks Jeremy. This is why I don't do computers, he's prolly up to his nipples in coding right now and there's a bunch of us jackwagons complaining about it not working.

Yeah great response time. It seems to be working perfect for me right now both getting and giving likes.

On mobile devices, I can't make hover work; it will only ever give you the option to like but not see who else did.

I've added the button to your own posts, however, it's going to take a while to get it so you can't like your own posts (not the highest priority of the items).

Also - if you use quick reply, you won't see the like functionality on posts that pull in on the ajax load of the screen. Also something to work on.

Now I can see likes on my posts but I can also like my own posts. Actually, I'm ok with that, carry on.

Does it look better with a grey thumbs down after you've thumbs up'd somebody?

Also - if you hover over the number of votes, you see who voted.

Don't like it turning to a thumbs down when I click thumbs up. Perhaps it would be better to separate the "clicking" function from the counting function. I get one click that turns both thumbs grey. Then, once someone gets either, you can see how many of each.

Frankly, though, I think this will get too much use. The old "like" feature seemed to get mostly meaningful use. This seems like it will make for too much "thumb action" (that didn't sound right).

FYI - if you don't want the notifications of thumbs up, you can disable it in your setting.

Thanks Jeremy, you should come back more often.

Now just get back all the likes that we received before the change and call it a night.

Limit certain functions, like Neg rep and votes for a Troll Indicator, to members who have reached a certain level. Or let it be a function that can be turned on/off by Mods. It isn't that hard to control the fiesty teenagers and annoying trolls.

Ideally, yes, I agree. But some of our posters with the highest post counts were some of the ones abusing neg rep. It makes moderating this place a lot harder.

Can you set up the thumb notification screen so it actually shows what posts got a thumb?

It shows the thread title and if you click on it you and go to the exact post. Too much query work to get a post snippet there (server load).

Id like to see thumbs down. I know there was abuse of neg rep but in large part that was due to the messages sent with rep. With this it might be less of a problem.

I think showing the numbers of thumbs up under one's avatar will generate an arms race (or thumbs race) which will render them rather meaningless.

The best thing about the former "like" feature was that it almost always really meant something. Frankly, with how I envision the thumbs being used as I see it now, I would largely stop paying attention to it. Previously, almost every "like" I got was a meaningful gesture by someone who went out of his/her way to give it. And I only gave mine when I really meant it. This new tool looks like it will just flood the board with "thumbs" that really don't mean much. Even Rulzz "likes" were meaningful. Plentiful, but meaningful. The new tool seems like it is begging for us to thumbs up/down each post. If that is your goal, fine, but it doesn't seem like a good replacement for the former "like" functionality.

Did I just turn into a negative Nancy? Well, you know what to do!

Jeremy is the man. Thanks for the help pal!

Honestly guys, by not making the change that we made earlier this week, it would have cost CF thousands of dollars in server space. I appreciate your patience and Jeremy's willingness to help.

All it would take to "control" the board is to put a minimum limit of posts required to unlock certain functions and a few clicks by Mods for a few high post abusers of those functions. Once their functions are disabled, they will only be normally bothersome.
