Remember the Big 12 has apologized to Missouri for the holding call called against them in Dan McCarney's final game. Not sure what good that really did.

I honestly think all this press is good for us and in terms of the NCAA tourny. We are team everyone is talking about today. How many threes, how we got shafted, how we went toe to toe with kansas, etc. There is no way we don't make the NCAA as long as we have a good showing the rest of the season.

I agree. We certainly brought no shame to our chances last night. Saying it goes as an "L" either way ignores the human factor. I think our close losses will be looked at in judging the quality of our team. Still have to take care of business the rest of the way though.

Couple items discussed because so much has been put on the final charge - no charge call....

But i would contend that both the end of regulation and overtime was more adversely affected by the worse call in my mind of Withey's 5th foul at CENTER COURT....

Consider this:
The ref that made the call was on the opposite side of the court - a direct line of sight at withey hitting lucious....walking toward the player committing the foul in the direction of the scorers table. So at no time should the official have lost sight of who committed the foul in relaying that to the scorers table.

That miscue led to the remainder of the game...

The charge/no charge play happens, no call, ball is tipped by who (withey) that happens to fall into Johnsons hands on the ground. Some have indicated that he had one hand on the out of bounds line when he first made contact with the ball - i didn't see that. Had withey not been in the game, we had excellent position, just with witheys length he was able to tip the ball. We get rebound game over. instead withey tips ball foul called.

Now fast forward to overtime - if withey is out, the complexion of overtime changes....we stop the do or die shooting 3 pointers and Niang goes to work down low....

I think Withey not fouling out was a far easier, less traffic and more impactful play then the charge - no charge...but either way, KU thinks they kicked our rears and we got jobbed...at least the Big 12 agrees with us and yes nothing will be done but it makes us feel better - right??????

Gotta beat Oklahoma to solidify our tourney birth....

Agree KMAC. Self looked just like a little kid in the cookie jar or a geezer in the sorority when he pushed Withey back onto the court. Hope people quit adoring him around here.

I'm hoping that the Big 12 is embarrassed as I am about last night and they are the ones asking the NCAA to review. Last night made the Big 12 look like either the biggest group of shysters in the country, propelling one team to a better record than they deserve, or a group of morons, either way, it was a black eye on Big 12 basketball.

I've had people come up to me today at work, who know very little about Big 12 basketball, hell most of these people follow the Bulls only for BBall, they told me, "Wow, you guys got hosed last night!"

Niang goes to work down low.
Hate to say it but I don't think that would've mattered. Niang just had a rough night. It happens. He got Gibson-black-hole syndrome last night. He set some excellent screens for McGee to work with but sometimes you just have to realize it isn't your night and don't force up contested 3s with 25 on the shot clock. That shot will always be there for you.

I laughed out loud when Mussberger commented at the end of regulation how the Big XII offices have to review the game with Withey's 5th foul getting called on Young, then the no-call on the charge, followed immediately by Niang getting called for being under the pile. I thought Muss had some stones to call that out the way he did. BUT THEN at the end of the game when SportsCenter comes on it starts all over again immediately bashing the refs! Great night of TV for ISU! I thought we had it... Even Bill Self picked Gold last night...

I have to admit, I despise Bret Moose a little less after last night, I didn't even have to mute him

I realize there are some refs and ref apologists on this board, but if you can sit there and defend those refs after last night's screw job, you can EABOD. I don't care if you've been a Cyclone fan for 50 years, you're dead to me.

On other team's forums, especially outside the conference, the game is barely being talked about outside the officiating. Jones had a big game for KU, but the only one talking about that over the officiating is ESPN.com.

It has been a long time since a game has made me feel this bad. This has been the hardest season in memory to watch, not because of the team, but because of the bad breaks this team has received

I believe the Big 12 is a bit embarrassed by that debacle last night. It aired out on national TV how crooked the Big 12 refs are and how they openly lobby for the jayhawks to win a game. They won't do anything about it, and the loss will still be on ISU's record, but it is at least some comfort to know that they have to squirm while sitting on their moneybag chairs in Dallas.

From an outsiders point of view, I believe this (the outrage over the obviously blown calls) will help ISU's standing with the selection committee. The Cyclones have the national image as a very good team that should have beat kansas twice this season. They will take that into account. I know that down here in KC yesterday, there were plenty of sports radio types claiming that Iowa State was going to win that game. They have the reputation as being a very workmanlike team that plays extremely well at home. Well, at least if they were able to hire their own refs.

Wouldn't be surprised at all if the refs get picked to do more games as a result of this debacle.

Hey Cyclone fans....I'm a KSU Wildcat and love my team to death, but I was cheering for you guys hard last night. You guys got jobbed in the worst way I have EVER seen. What in the heck does it take to get good refs in the Big XII? Horrible calls cost ISU the game. Unreal. Just know that the Purple Nation supports you on this.

The guy who had 7 assists and 0 turnovers had "Gibson-black-hole" syndrome?

This, they review every game played to rate the refereeing, just using the comment to save face since even ESPN said it was bad. i doubt they even get a slap on the wrist
We can rate the ref: ZERO. He should get a negative if that was possible.

This Curtis Shaw, yeah he won't help

Iowa State's Larry Eustachy headed for the locker room after this heated exchange with official Curtis Shaw. AP

This is also the jackhole that got into with John Walters during a game in Stillwater, I believe. Yea, it explains a lot about the state of Big XII officiating with this doofus is in control of it.
