The team has been playing well, including solid performances by Kempt, but we'll need Park to come back to have a good year imo.
When the defense starts to compress the field, not only taking away easy passes but also DM, we'll see how Kempt responds. Also, we've had a lot of good luck in regards to INTs and lack of drops against OU and KU.
Kempt needs reps, but it would have been nice to get Noland more time yesterday.

I agree with a lot of what you are saying. But the lack of drops could be due to the type of ball that Kempt throws.
Kempt signed with Oregon State out of high school. Oregon State was a helluva lot better program than Iowa State when Kempt signed with them. Kempt left when Mike Riley left. Oregon State didn't suck when Kempt signed or in Kempt's first two years there. Mike Riley left for Nebraska and that is when Kempt left. Don't see how you can pass judgement on a true Freshman and true Sophomore who didn't get to play at that point in their career.
No one is saying he is Brady. Kempt is a quarterback who is playing within his abilities and making good decisions. At this point, we don't need a gambling gunslinger at Quarterback. It seemed that was what Park was morphing to. We were living and dying on his success. We are back to relying on Montgomery and taking scripted calculated risks. It is working. When something is working then you don't mess with it. That is all anyone is saying.
I remember Johnny Orr talking about walk on Jeff Hornacek. Johnny said Jeff was not the most talented kid. But he had solid fundamentals and good decision making. And he seemed to have eyes on the back of his head. Hornacek supplanted those who were higher ranked recruits and became a fixture because the team was better with him in the lineup. Hornacek' s jersey hangs in Hilton.
Not saying Kempt is that type of player. But this team is winning and seems to have rallied and gelled under his leadership. Team is what matters. Kempt stays in lineup as long as he and the team do well.
That first sentence can be a part of nearly every thread about every sport we play. I'm continually amazed at the number of posters that are obsessed with pointing out all the bad things about our teams and players. Hell, we could go 13-0 and some of these new posters will find something to ***** about.
Anyone else see the play where Kempt looked right at a wide open receiver on third and short, and then threw long to well covered side line. Seemed like a Kempt anomaly.

Just to miss the point completely, I'd like to add that Kempt's jersey will never hang in Hilton.
iSu WRs have been dropping balls for years. YEARS! Butler had a drop yesterday. The only reason there are fewer drops is because we are throwing the ball less. In two games, Kempt has attempted as many passes as Park did against iowa.
I mean c'mon...the most passes he has attempted in a game is 24. He is asked to manage the game and not lose it. He does a good job.
Manning has done a great job(Texas being the exception). The guy works miracles with game plans utilizing strengths. Smoke and mirrors

My only point was that I think it is possible that it isn't just luck that Kempt hasn't had many dropped balls. It might be partly because of the way he throws the ball.
Like I said...iSu WRs have been dropping balls for YEARS!!!! The biggest rip on Lazard BEFORE the season was his drops. Parks has only been his fulltime QB this year. Butler had drops last year and it didn't matter if it was Lazard or Park.
Kempt has had three drops in two games and 44 attempts.
4 drops against iowa with 46 attempts.
2 drops against Texas with 49 attempts.
Kempt also doesn't throw across the middle as much where a lot of drops happens
Possible. Also possible that since plays are getting called for only two or so targets, receivers are better able to focus on specific plays they know they are likely to be targeted. Also, AL has been the worst offender for drops and he's been targeted about 50% less with Kempt as QB, so that would lower the number of drops.
This is not only dumb, but it shouldn't be posted.
You do understand that Park might not be back this year, and who knows if he'll be back next year either? You do understand that, right?
So according to your dumb statement above, if Park doesn't return, that means our season is lost then and won't be any good. I'm guessing CMC and the team doesn't feel that way, thank God.

That was a frustrating play. Kempt stares way too long at his target. Can we just get Park with the game manager playbook?
It's tough to improve on beating a Top 3 team on the road and a 45-0 drubbing. I say let's just ride this train until it derails, Park or no Park. If/when Kyle looks bad, make the switch.

How is that different than a ton of people on here thinking that Kempt should have been benched this week if Park had been back?
