Let me preface this by saying I don't know any of the story surrounding this or any of the people involved.

The first link didn't work but I read the PDF. It may not be worded in a way I would write it but the message isn't necessarily a bad one. This is the type of advice some young people need at times and may not have anyone else around willing to give it to them.

I think the guy that runs that blog (replace the stars in the link to Jon's last name) just has an axe to grind. Whoever runs that thing doesn't appear to me to be someone that knows much about the schools.

I don't see anything wrong with that message either. Good examples. I was a freshman the same year as Robert Johnson, he lived 2 floors up. Had decent talent but ended up at Elsworth CC and never made it back to the big time.

After following all the news accounts about Jon, seeing him "perform" on the cable channel at the school board meetings and hearing all the bad things about him by people on this website, I didn't have much respect for the man. After reading this, I actually have some now. Seems to me he is giving this high school athlete some good advice. Maybe he could have toned down the example a little, but that has been Jon's problem all along, he doesn't work well with others.

I don't disagree with what Jon was saying at all.

The message and the method are complete opposites IMO... and that means neither one gets across.

A little taste of "Scared straight"-anyone 40 or older should remember that analogy.

Sometimes you have to speak the language of the recipient of the message

What was the context of the email? Is this written to a student protesting athletic elligibility due to bad grades? Other than the phrase about the bjs I didn't think the tone of the letter was out of line.

BTW... The guy who runs the blog most certainly does know a lot about schools...especially DM public.

I may have substituted the BJ reference with something a little more PC, but otherwise it didn't seem out of line at all. Obviously if the kid hasn't figured it out and had to write him, his coaches, teachers, principals, and anyone else responsible for educating him have failed in explaining how expectations and ramifications work.

Miller' pal ******** is an idiot

Cannot wait for Miller to come in here and defend his close friend in this latest debacle. This guy is a school board member? This guys tries to represent ISU athletics?

Nice bed-mates Miller.

skin flute references are totally out of bounds

Miller and Deace are close, ******** owned the old Clone site.

Regardless if his motives are good, and no matter how correct he may be (and probably is) on some facts, he has set his cause back-wards a long ways with his behavior, antics and general decorum.
