OK, The guy who runs the big music box at Jack Trice, here is what you are going to do:
--No warm-up thug rap please. You can play some 1980's fat boys or maybe even some MC Hammer too legit to quit. Just kidding, but to play the absolute CRAP that they play pre-game has gotten offensive to me. The story I hear is they just carte blanche broadcast the player's request "becuase it gets them pumped up" or whatever. Put something on the air that is mildly, tangibly popular.

--Smoke on the Water is cool for the beginning of intro, but it has not crescendo, no climax. I keep waiting for more. It is 2011, and I know we have had the technology to mix music since, oh, 1915 or so. Please mix Smoke into something a little more rousing, please.

--Sweet Caroline will continue to be banned until 10 minutes after the victory.

--It would be good to hear some more original scores.....I hear the same "Ohhhhhh, oh-oh-oh-oh, ohhhhhhh" bass riff at about three different games this year (different schools) AND on television games too(anyone know this riff? It is annoyingly catchy). These schools all copy each other, and ISU seems hell bent on being a copy cat instead of an orignator.
I suggest "Pumped Up Kicks" by Foster the People for end of third quarter this game....that song is freaking infectious...I can't get it out of my head.

--No more "Cyclone, First down!!!!" thing. DUMB!!!!!!!!

--More cow bell.

Another 'no' to pumped up kicks

See no problem letting the players pick some of the songs that get played.

However, I heard a song last night that I hadn't in a while. It is not a great song for football as a whole, but I thought its intro would have some potential to incorporate into the entrance song. 'Lay Your Hands on Me' by Bon Jovi - again, just the intro with the drums and the occassional 'Hey' being yelled & have the whole stadium yell that part as CPR & the players walk down. Maybe loop so it times well with when they stop & get ready to rush the field. Then, when they rush the field, have another song ready. Don't know if some other metal/rock song would go here or something instrumental. Thread I viewed yesterday had a Youtube link showing South Carolina using the music from 2001: A Space Odyssey, so something like that has been in my mind. Maybe something like Ride of the Valkyries (think Apocalypse Now helicopter scene).
Probably just my corny thoughts, but they came together last night after hearing that Bon Jovi song that I hadn't heard in a while.

Keeping on with the White Stripes theme, if only he had written this song as "My Cowbell" it would be perfect!

Wow the op is so wrong on this. Pumped up Kicks? Really? If you want to get people fired up we need to play play "Sail Away" by Enya. That song gets me so fired up and I think the silent majority and the students are with me on this.

Enya - Orinoco Flow (video) - YouTube

Wow, I didn't know that Enya wrote a song about Chad Ochocinco. Was that a special thing for dancing with the stars?

I also think the "zombie nation" ohhhh song gets played by everybody now, usually right after a time out to keep the crowd pumped up. Someone said earlier that ISU is not very original with our "music selection" in these situations, and I agree.

Something that isn't used and could be a great "keep the crowd pumped" one for the kids and the whole crowd alike right after a timeout: Benny Benassi - Satisfaction

It's sweet, could become huge in Cyclone Nation. I'm also thinking that this could be played in Hilton when our guys are really taking it to a team and forces the opposition into a TO.... just blast this. (Plus we must pay omage to our robot sounding overlords.)

UGGGHHH, ear bleach, please. Worst part is that my mouse is double clicking on every click, so I couldn't stop it. I'd hit pause, and it'd double click (pause, play)....no thanks.

The kids will love it. And when the student section is happy and loud, the rest of the crowd will follow.

If you like the bass line riff of Pumped Up Kicks here is a much better version by a great artist that you can understand.

Still it is definitely NOT to be played at a football game.

I didn't say "the kids" wouldn't love it or they shouldn't play it at the games. I don't go to the games, so I don't know what pumps up the crowd, and wouldn't comment thusly. I just know that in my opinion that song is utter suckitude.

As for 'the kids' opinions, when they stop protesting about being $200,000 in debt with a classical studies degree and not being able to find a job, I'll care what 'the kids' think.

Ok old timer, calm down. I'm just a couple years out of ISU too, but wow. You probably don't like the Zombie Nation "Ohh" song too. I didn't know student's college studies of choice should have come into play in this type of thread, but you went there.

I guess I have a better argument since I'm a season ticket holder and never miss a game though.

Not upset, prolly shoulda threw in a Jimlad. I'm snarky by nature, in a particularly snarky mood today. Zombie nation: I'm neutral on the song, but am tired of it for the reason you stated. Playing it at sporting events is as original as having turkey on Thanksgiving. (being snarky there)

WRT college choices, that wasn't the point. My point was that in general, the whole 'well it's big with the kids' is over emphasized. I get that in your usage it's valid, the student section can get the rest of the *real* old fuddy duddies going, just throwing in another possibly misplaced world observation.

Anyway, carry on. I still say I don't like the song. But that's just my opinion, and I'm entitled to it.

The song with the Bass that everybody is looking for is 7 Nation Army...Great song but has been beaten to death (especially by Penn State).

The White Stripes - 'Seven Nation Army' - YouTube

Yeah, it really has. It seems like everyone has their marching band playing this now. Funny, I never thought a White Stripes song would be played by marching bands around the country.

The problem is that they just keep playing the opening riff over and over. They never get to the chorus or Ritchie Blackmore's monster guitar solo.

There is a school that does use that.. cant remember what one.

It was the Ohio college where they showed the players new uniforms. It was pretty badass.

I love all the classic jock jams and the generic stuff that everyone does but it would be cool to have a little creativity and do something unique.

Except for sandstorm, you keep that under all circumstances.

why such a lack of love for Sweet Caroline? Maybe I'm alone but I love when they play that!
Also love cowbell and cyclone aerobics or whatever they're called.
