It's not like I'm saying Minnesota has a way better program than us. We're probably pretty similar as far as history and tradition, and they just came off a pretty good season (record-wise). I just don't really think we have any room to comment on any of their recruits wasting their talent by going there instead of coming here... that's all

uh we're not even close to Minnesota if you're going with the history and tradition route.

I'm always amazed at the perception some of our fans have at ISU. they must just see our jerseys and think we are USC instead of ISU.

Agreed. I've been amazed at some of the "we'll take whoever commits to us first" talk with Mack, Warren, Jones, Mister. As if we can just pick and choose like Alabama. If Jeff Jones blows out his knee tomorrow, then doesn't qualify, then says he wants to play for us, we still take him in addition to Warren and Syria! Then, if Mister comes back groveling, we add him as well. We just don't historically attract these kind of guys.

In the defense of the poster talking about Minny's history and our history, most recruits are looking at current history and current states of the program.. The two programs are very much alike in the now with maybe a slight edge to ISU because of number of bowl appearances and Top 25 wins in the past 5 years...

Sorry, just trying to play devil's advocate in the defense of the one poster saying ISU is a better program than Minnesota.

Are you ******* kidding me with that comment?

Am I ****** kidding you that there was a time in this country where a lot of schools didn't let black people in, let alone play sports, and Minnesota happened to be one of them? Step off your high horse.

Are you talking about the same Minnesota that won a national championship with one of the first if not the first black QB in the Big Ten.

Minnesota's treatment of Jack Trice can't be defended. Culture can change, however, over time. Minnesota was one of the first major college programs to provide significant opportunities for black football players. Their success with players with southern roots such as Bobby Bell and Carl Eller was a major factor in changing college football recruiting practices.

On the field, it's hard to argue either way that in recent (& relevant) history one program is ahead of the other. The two are, for all intents and purposes equivalent.

Minnesota has a beautiful new stadium, but overall ISU has better overall football facilities than Minnesota and a bigger fanbase, etc.

There is really no advantage, IMO in one program vs the other when it comes to recruiting. Each has pros/cons and it really comes down to what a specific recruit is looking for.

ISU has much better crowd support, Minnesota has a better stadium, ISU has better weight and locker room facilities, both have good coaches leading their programs.

I'd say the programs are pretty equal. Minnesota benefits from a much easier schedule, and has been worse than ISU since Rhoads got here.

Those national titles are completely and totally irrelevant.

Also, Jeff Jones just wants another hat to put up when he picks Minnesota IMO and I have no problem with the coaches cutting off his recruitment if he isn't returning their calls. Warren is going to be just as good at the D1 level as Jones will be and ISU really doesn't have room for a 3rd RB this class or a 7th RB on the roster for that matter. We should know that having 4 talented RBs on a roster isn't really all that helpful after last year. I would have traded one for an equally talented DT, CB, LB, OL, ect.

Not to mention not many RBs are going to want to be a part of a 3 RB class, they will likely want to be "The Guy".
