A great game overall but that missed rebound when tech missed free throw with 30 seconds left was brutal. Got the result but that was a glaring negative in a heap of positives tonight.

="Cyclonepride, post: 6473362, member: 1024"t]Guy just battles for everything. Street fighter/Dustin Hogue mentality. I expected that coming in, but I did not expect his scoring touch.

He's a little bit of Dustin Hogue toughness but he's got a bit of George Niang old man offense. And that is not too shabby. Not shabby at all.

This is the exact same thing that happened vs K-state. Has anyone else pointed that out yet?

Even though he struggled with it last night (as did the whole team) his ability to step out and hit the 3 as a big is invaluable. Missed having that with guys like Georges and Hogue. Also, I think he’s probably the best we’ve got in setting screens. Seems like the rest of our guys aren’t overly enthusiastic about doing that, but he seems to really get under opposing team’s skin when he does. Very much a lunch pail type of player.

MJ was the man last night...played smart until the end, even with the 4 fouls. There is a bunch of pressure on him with Lard and Solo out...nice also to see Conditt getting more minutes...that will pay off big too.

He competed last night. Owens isn’t as strong, which helps. The guards also hit the boards well.

Good to see George get meaningful minutes, too. His potential is exciting, and given he’s lost his redshirt, it’s nice he’s getting PT. Next year we could have four forwards that can step out and hit the outside shot.

MJ had a huge night in my eyes. With Lard not able to play again, it was good to see him take the pressure and step up. Still hoping Lard can get at least 15-20 minutes to protect the lane a bit more but great game by MJ.

What are opinions on MJake's foul away from the ball on the made 3 pointer?

It was a little shove but man did he go down easy like he was shot by a gun. Huge play for the guys to avoid a 5 or 6 point Tech single possession.

Absolutely true.
Lard is getting better game by game.
But, Jacobson is 10x more fundamentally sound. Not even close.
At risk of being a broken record, Lard is not a very good on ball defender, or post defender. A semi efficient post player will foul him out quickly. He is a good help defender shot blocker. His blocked shots are cool, energizing and can impact a drivers mentality. I assume, and hope, he continues to make weekly progress. We need him to be playing well to Max our potential.
Sorry I'm a bit behind. I haven't gotten to watch many games this year. But what I've noticed about Jacobsen is that yes he's a great post defender, especially good at preventing an entry pass to the post. But his feet and hands look very slow to me. He seems to have a lot of trouble providing help defense when we've doubled elsewhere. Compare that to Lard, who is a great rim protector. Personally, if I was on another team, I'd fear Lard a lot more than Jacobsen.

And when it comes to offense, Jacobsen has trouble handling the ball on quick or hard passes, and seems to be a liability on pick and roll plays.

Forgive me if my watching experience has been too limited and I've missed an exceptional performance or two from Jacobsen. A lot of the time this year I've found myself just listening to the radio broadcast while getting some work done instead.

Edit: missed the second half last night. I had an early start for work this morning so had to hit the sack. Sounds like MJ had a really good game!

I posted this in the game thread but it seems more appropriate here:

Can’t be true. Fran obviously doesn’t know anything about basketball.

Listened to prohm on the post game on my iHeartRadio app 100.3 the bus. Said mike came on Sunday and asked what he could do. Told him 3 boards weren’t acceptable.

I think he listened.
