Are there any indications that he's working on the degree or plans to do so?

Not that he needs the money but I wonder if he does similar to Montgomery.

Seems like it would make more sense to retire jersey's based on achievements while playing for ISU, versus post ISU professional accomplishments.

This approach may however be antiquated in today's world where guys may only play for 1 or 2 years at a certain school.

I'd also say you get your jersey retired if you establish a NIL endowment (love college sports these days).

I hate to say it, but it's not gonna happen. You gotta graduate.
If we enforced this rule with Haliburton we would deserve any and all of the bad things that might happen to us. He would instantly be our most successful, wealthy, and famous former athlete. He has also already contributed huge dollars to our NIL. Not retiring his jersey because he didn't pass The History of Rock n Roll would be the dumbest self-own in history.

Haliburton has already said he understands the graduation requirement and he doesn't seem to have any issues with it. We're just lucky he's such a loyal guy and a great ambassador.

Sadly I think the JP rules hold him out. IIRC in an interview when he got his gold medal banner, he said something along the lines of knowing he didn't have a shot at getting his jersey retired but winning a gold medal was a way to get his name up in the rafters.

Speaking of gold medals, if you win multiple gold medal do you get another banner, or do they add the year on your old banner? I figure Hali will have more chances at representing USA in the Olympics.

Agreed. It's likely the two greatest ambassadors of ISU athletics ever are at, or near, the top of their professions right now. Brock and Tyrese are awesome guys, and incredibly loyal to ISU. Having those two guys at this exact time - when college athletics is constantly changing, is a HUGE deal for ISU.

ISU needs to do whatever it needs to do to keep them happy and openly loyal and to use their stardom as much as possible.

I realize it's a different thing, but worth reminding that Tyrese is up there with a gold medal banner. When fans and recruits come to Hilton, they will see his name in the rafters, regardless of whether his jersey has been retired or not.

Listening to interviews during the Olympic banner, Haliburton seemed to be surprised that he would ever be in the running for any type of banner in Hilton Coliseum. I would think he would be satisfied with working to add additional Olympic Gold Medal banners and let those that earned higher levels of success at Iowa State have their numbers retired.

I wouldn't be shocked if Tyrese followed David Montgomery's example and returned to finish his degree sometime down the road. He could easily get his BLS degree without actually having to be on campus.

Would be great if he circled back to graduate. Should be after other guys who were far more impactful at ISU. Should wait on all of em til they are not likely to become an embarrassment for nonsense. (IDK when that is anymore, some dudes show up at 60 and are problematic)

Yep. It doesn’t sound like Tyrese is bothered or offended. He’s our best nba player. But he only played here for a year and a half. He’d likely get his number retired if he had stayed for 4 years.

I’m sure Tyrese has a standing invite to all athletic events and will be recognized every time he is able to get here.

The Arizona game was pretty cool.
