Cyclone Alley was pathetic last night. Keep it up and Pollard probably starts to shrink their sections. Sad that they only pack their sections for Iowa, Texas, KU or a high ranked team in town.

None of these kids have ever seen us get a good win as students. What do you expect? We all have the luxury of having been students when we had good teams, or having at least watched some Hilton Magic with our own eyes. There have been plenty of times Hilton got rocking during the GMac era, and the team didn't respond. Hilton Magic was crowd + team.

These kids know that if a good team comes into Hilton, we're gonna lose. We aren't playing for anything at this point in the season, and they have better things to do on a school night than watch us get to 3-9 in conference play. If these team was any good, that student section would be full.

And if Pollard takes their seats away, who will sit there? The crowd is lacking every where these days. People just don't want to invest a ton of energy to watch crap, unless it's like football where you can squeeze in a whole day of being outside and having fun with friends and fellow Cyclones before the game.

Hey, I have an idea. Let's quit ******** about how many people are at the games and just start going to the games.

Why? I want McD fired. My absence and that of others makes a statement to JP and gets us one step closer to that happening. It is appalling what McD has done to ISU basketball, and I cannot believe that people still go regularly, let alone still defend the guy.

What is our offensive strategy? How about defensive? What is our identity? What is our signature win under McD?

Those should not be difficult questions to answer, and yet here we are, 4 years later, and they are. I am sick of being called a bad fan, as are others, just because we speak the truth and refuse to have blind faith in a team and program led by a loser.

How much do students pay for their tickets? Not implying anything, just don't know.

$125 to the Athletic Department + $30 for CA

Additionally, there was absolutely no way everyone in the upper level would've fit in the parquet. Wish I'da taken a panaramic pic last night. Legitimately 7,500-8,000 there.

There are also a lot of people saying theres no way it was less than half full. I seriously don't see how you think it was only 6k.
And yes, I've read a TON of your posts, they're everywhere. And ever since I've joined CF I've recognized your picture and almost every comment you make is negative! It's just so annoying! Stop whining and GROW UP!!!!!

Feel free to add me to your ignore list. And congratulations, you've seen my picture... one that a few of us have as an avatar...

I paid way too much money and made that horrible late night ****** off drive back to DSM too many times already, just to watch crappy and uninspiring bball.

Just what do you spend on tickets and what time is your bedtime? Des Moines is about a 40-45 minute drive so even for a 7pm game you are usually home around 10pm. I'm a $99 corner balcony season ticket holder so if that is your investment too I don't want to hear how about $5 a game is a ton of money to invest. I make the same drive you do and I don't find it a huge time commitment to do it.

$155 doesn't seem like much but I assure you that is a rather large investment for most college students. FYI... to those knocking the student section.... Look at ISU football games and it is obvious which section brings the noise, tries tirelessly to get the rest of the crowd jacked up, etc..... The same goes for basketball. The volume of the crowd for most ISU athletic events begins and ends with the student section. End of story.

As part of my professional responsibilities,I have done a lot of crowd size estimation (in Hilton and other venues).

While this is just a projection and it could be I missed a few in the scan, I beleive the actual attendance as likley betweeen 5,500-6,500, maybe tops of 7,000.

The crowd was not there and I am not bad at this.

I'm going to call BS because you're saying we wouldn't have filled the parquet. We easily had the parquet filled last night with the people sitting in the sky.

Why would you spend this much money and not show up then? Again I remember what it was like to be a student and hard up for cash so if I paid for something I sure as hell wouldn't waste my money by not going to something I paid for just like I don't even now with my season tickets. At the very least find someone that doesn't have tickets that would go in your place, I'm sure there are some students out there that wish they could right?

Call it as you will. I stand by my estimation, the upper was empty, scattered, adn the bottom had major holes and no solid areas filled in filled in.

My seats were considerably more expensive than yours, so I saw this train wreck up close.

Do you really enjoy that late night drive after watching us get beaten routinely? Does SDSU ring a bell? Or how about the nailbiter with North Dakota State, what a thrilling game. Luckily our home court gave us that two point edge to defeat.......the Bison. Sadly that showed everyone what level our team was on. Glad McD could take us there.

The thread wasn't meant to call out our fanbase or Cyclone Alley. I still believe our fanbase could be considered one of the best in the nation. How many schools can say they 3rd in their conference for paid attendance while having such dismal seasons. But again, what do you think Pollards reaction is to seeing so few people in the arena?

Actually thanks to someone that couldn't make it I was able to see last night's game just 2 rows up from center court which I enjoyed. The rides home have never bothered me win or lose. Sorry but I just don't let a Cyclone win or loss ruin my mood to the point that I can't stand to drive home afterwards. If you let the outcome of sports affect your life to the point you are miserable then you take them too seriously. I hate losing too and I love the feel of a big win but at the end of the day it's just a game and the few hours I spend with whoever goes to the game with me is still worth the effort.

you sir, are 100% wrong. And you are by far the most negative person on CF. Every single post I read from you is something negative and it gets really old. I'm sorry your life sucks so much that you need to take it out on the internet.

:biglaugh:
looking at your join date...Too bad you haven't been around during a season when there was more reason to be optimistic. The true measure of the most negative poster award comes when things are going relatively well, not when the most talked about subject is something that is going very poorly. Unless you lurked before joining, I recommend you look up MontyBurns posts before you start handing out negative poster awards.

Unless there were LOADS of people in the Balcony there is no way it was over half capacity. I couldn't make it to the game last night, but from the part of the second half I caught on TV I found myself thinking it's well on it's way to looking like Carver. The parts of the lower bowl on TV looked to be 80% capacity MAX. Since there's about 14 seats in a row? That's less than 3 people missing per row. And I think 80% is very generous with the swaths of empty seats in the parquet that showed up on TV.

Even with 80% in the lower bowl full that's only 4800 people plus the upper deck. So that'd requrire 2,200 people in the balcony to crack the 50% capacity mark? I have a hard time believing with the amount of empty season tix seats down low that there was a packed upper deck. Even if the upper deck had half the number of people as the lower deck you're talking about 7,200. And that's all based on what I think is a VERY generous 80% butts in seats of the lower bowl.

Maybe it is just me but I think it is absurd to call out the students. Going to athletic events is part of the fun of being a student and it is something I would say the vst majority of students would consider a great part of the overall college experience. If only you could have seen just a few of the shots they showed on tv last night of CA during the late stages of the game. 30 seconds to go in the game and looking like a Cyclone win and they panned the camera through CA and 99% of them had a blank look on their faces. There was no excitement, hell some of them looked like they were about to fall asleep and I don't mean any of that in a critical way. Maybe it's because there has to be an exciting product on the court for them to watch and there isn't. You tell me.... Based on the expressions on some faces in CA that were shown late in the game last night it looked like some of those kids had to try and I mean really try just to find the energy to make the trek over to Hilton to watch that slop they call basketball. Come on.... How can you blame them?

FYI.... I don't hear you calling out the many donors whose seats were empty at the game last night. Maybe you should start there.

You might have a future in working with numbers and be able to impress those you work with!

And it does no good to turn this into a best fan, student, donors, expensive vs cheap seats argument. Everyone is weary and not attending.
