So the Cavs and Warriors with younger, less injury-prone rosters weren't enough to lure him away from ISU, but the Bulls are a perfect match? This is the type of "reporting" that people are getting annoyed with on the whole story. A lot of media throwing things at the wall without any support. Hoiberg may leave, but the media frenzy around it is what is really hurting ISU more than losing CFH would be.

I get your point, but for whatever reason the Bulls job has been mentioned by a family member as far back as last summer already. While other franchises were seeking/hiring coaches and fans wondered, I was told they didn't think he'd go there, but if that Bulls job ever opened up..... look out. Guess you would have to ask Fred himself, but perhaps the fact that Chicago has had multiple championships and have made the playoffs alot (compared to the Timberwolves), it is a more 'storied' franchise. I hope he genuinely (and still does) love Iowa State, but the lure of being on the biggest stage at a storied franchise is going to loom much larger.

Not sure if it would work, but Thibs should sign a back loaded contract with his next team so the Bulls have to pay almost all of his salary the next 2 years.

Well it will soon be over 1 way or another, I still think he stays but that will only delay things a year, he wants to go to T-Wolves.

Would bet any amount of money that he does not want to go the T-Wolves over the Bulls. He is Chicago bound.

This makes me want to work as an underling in the Bulls front office.

It sounds like House of Cards, sports edition.

Not even joking, I'd love a job with the Bulls and ultimately think they're making the right decision going for Fred. I know everyone is cynical about it now, but I see a bright future.

i have hated the Bulls since Jordan and my love of Fred isn't going to overcome that.

I actually enjoy the nba. Not a lot but I don't mind watching. I love the Spurs and I'm pulling for lebron to win one for Cleveland.

I enjoy the NBA as well but the Bulls are my team(after ISU, I definitely want Fred to stay) and I hope Lebron never wins one in Cleveland as I'll always be bitter that Bulls got Boozer instead of one or two of James, Wade, and Bosh in that free agency. I do wish there were 66 game seasons instead of 82 and more parity/talent in the league would also help..

I'd love to get Hornacek if Fred does decide to leave but I'm skeptical of the possibility of that happening. I'd also be fine with Otz but would be a little worried about his lack of HC experience.

CF members have made many rational arguments concerning the selection of our next HC if Fred leaves. I do hope Jamie allows the current team input into the selection process. These guys are mostly Seniors and should be allowed input, especially since we heavily value next season and a potential FF. Next years team has major impact on the future of the program!

I'm about 99% sure that Fred will not be with ISU this year, and I'm about 75% sure that Otz will be the next head coach here.

I would be shocked at this point if Fred is back, and I'll be somewhat surprised if Otz isn't hired in his place.

All the writing has been on the wall for months pointing in this direction, so none of us should be surprised at this point if this is what happens. However, JP usually pulls surprises for his hires, so you never know for sure.

lol @ zero ncaa experience. He's an NBA coach ffs. Honestly, I think Horn would do better as an ncaa coach. He's a good teacher, and no one in the nba wants to listen to their coach and they are already set in their ways. In college he can teach the game to players that are willing to listen.

I don't understand the Hornacek haters either. If ISU can get Hornacek, ISU hires a coach as good as Fred (not a popular opinion but I'll explain in a second). Obviously, the main hurdle is if Jeff is actually interested in coming here.

Another thing nobody has mentioned is that Hornacek met with Paxson in 2008 to talk about the Chicago job. He apparently turned it down because he didn't want travel to affect his family too much. Would be funny if Jeff and the Bulls were talking about the job.

He was the Jazz shooting coach for a couple of seasons, now is obviously the coach of the Phoenix Suns. Jeff's NBA record

12-13 (Suns W/O JH) 25-57
13-14 (Suns with JH) 48-34
14-15 (Suns with JH) 39-43

Don't forget they traded away Isaiah Thomas and Goran Dragic. They were in playoff contention before those 2 trades happened. The Suns exceeded expectations with regards to their talent level. His coaching style would fit in well with the players ISU has currently as well. http://saltcityhoops.com/a-breakdown-of-jerry-sloans-offense-and-its-impact/

He's not perfect but anyone else I've heard about is a downgrade on him. He might bolt for the NBA after a couple of seasons but better than getting the next McD.

Spoke to a source close to the Athletic Department who stated that the signs are pointing towards Hornacek becoming our next head coach.
